Hello, Looking for info on the stereo on my 00 340DA. I have the upgraded setup with the subwoofer in the helm seat. Is not working and all dry rotted. I was looking for the amplifier but could not find it in the closet, or behind the electrical panel however I found a Clarion amp unhooked just sitting under the mid birth seating not mounted. I also found that all the speakers in the boat are wired together from the radio directly to speaker wires. Now I am assuming someone unhooked the amp and possibly spliced all the speaker wires to the radio outputs? How was the factory setup wired? Did it use RCA cables to the amp and then speakers? Should I have 1 or 2 amps? Where else can I look for the amp? Thanks.

Are you sure all speakers are wired directly from the head unit? On mine only the cabin speakers are wired from the head unit. The cockpit speakers are wired to a Clarion 400W amp that is under the v-birth (its a 300DA though, not your 340DA). That amp is wired to the head unit via a rca cable pair. What is the model/size of the Clarion amp you found?

Look behind the radio itself. My amps are back there.

I found a clarion APA4203 4 channel amp. It must be original because I have ppw on it. I don't see any amp behind the radio. The amp I found is over a foot long..??

Ok, After further research I found that the wiring for the amp is behind the radio. Now my question is how were the speakers wired? The radio has 30x4 output so I can power the 4 cabin speakers with that. How about the 5 speakers outside? Can I run them from the RCA off the radio? Whats the best way to wire up the cockpit 4 speaker and subwoofer? Thanks.

HIFI may fly in for the best advice, but in the meantime in general you will run your RCA outs to amp(s) and then run speaker wire from the amp(s) to the cockpit speakers. Suggestions for the best amp(s) to buy and how to set them I'll leave to others and/or the experts at the hifi stores. Lots of permutations and combinations possible there.
