MY 2000 260 SUNDANCER MOTOR IS SHOT, IT CAME OUT WITH A 5.7 260HP EFI, CAN I REPLACE WITH A 5.7 330HP EFI LONG BLOCK WITHOUT TO MUCH TROUBLE?

The biggest concern with a long block, will be whether your old computer will work with the new block, or can be re-programmed for it. The cam, timing, fuel requirements, etc. will be different on the new block, so it will need the right software.

The same holds true for the fuel injection system

I'll also add that your existing "260HP" is the power measured at the prop. Not always, but often, when you're buying an engine from some place, they may list the crankshaft HP, not the propshaft HP. Moral of the story... don't assume that you're getting 70HP more. Check and verify.

I'm glad you brought that to my attention, rod went through oir pan on original engine, I'm would like to get as much HP that I can out of a 5.7 with Bravo 3 outdrive, I'm not a mechanic, I'm a bodyman by trade.

I had the same boat/engine as you. Truth be told, I was always very happy with the combo and even had no problems skiing behind it. That said, NEVER in the history of boating, have the words "I should've gotten the smaller engine" been said! :)

I guess you just need to weigh the cost of the engine vs how you are using/plan to use the boat.

Never had any problems getting boat up on plane, even pulling a skier. I would be a happier captian if I could get another 7 or 8 mph out of it, since re-powering anyway. What do you think?
