Hi, I have a 2000 24 DA mercruiser 5.7 EFI with a bravo III having ignition problems. I replaced the starter and ignition switch but occasionally when i turn the key no response. All the normal start up alarms ring, guages work but no starter activity, no clicking nothing. A few trys it usually kicks in. From what I read I it seems like it is the slave solenoid is bad. The question is, where is it located. I looked at the wiring diagram and cant seem to locate where it is mounted on the block. I am sure it is staring me in the face but a little nudge(help) from anyone would be appreciated.:smt021

I had similar symptoms on one of my engines. After swapping starters, switches, and even the slave solenoid, it turned out to be a bad ground - the main one on the engine block with multiple large black ground wires.

Not sure if your slave in in the same place, but mine are on the top of the engines in the same area as the other electrical breakers and electronic engine control box.

Good luck!

Have you tried using a remote starter and hooking directly to the starter to rule out a bad switch?

Have not done that. I replaced the starter, starer selonoid and the ignition switch. Only thing left is the slave selonoid or a bad connection somewhere but thanks.

I am having the same problem and had to replace it on my port 5.7. I posted a pic and it is under the mercathode blue module shown in the picture. It might just be a loose terminal check them as well.
