Hey everyone! I did a search and saw a few hits on this topic but no answers really. Ever since I've owned my 215 EC, water somehow collects in the bottom of the trash compartment under the trash bin. The one time I found wetness was inside the compartment on the glued down rug on the starboard side(next to the head). However the carpet above is not wet at all.

Has anyone else run into this issue and found out where this is coming from? It's pretty frustrating as it seems to be somewhat intermittent.

Thanks in advance!

Rain water or sea water? Taste it if you're not sure. Boat is covered?

Vertical walls of carpet will dry very quickly. You could have a leaking portlight, a stanchion base, the rubrail, windshield mounting screws, cracks in that area's wall that allows water to come forward from the cockpit storage, etc. Investigation is in your future and for this you can find plenty of information on this forum. But, basically, you need to track down where it's starting from. Start by hoping you get lucky and have someone imitate rain with a hose - look inside while they do that. Hopefully you'll see it after a few minutes. If not, you need to start using something like paper towels taped in key areas as even if they dry, they will "show" that they were wet. Knowing that, will help you narrow things down. Given the wetness you found in the head, I would start with the rubrail.

there is a drain (opening) in the corner of the helm that allows water from behind the dash to drain onto the cockpit deck and eventually to the bilge....the dash is not watertight so rain and/or wash water can leak behind the helm......if that drain opening gets clogged the water can pool up behind the helm to the point it will flow back into the cabin where it collects under the trash can.....you can access this drain for inspection and cleaning by removing the access panel in the head compartment....

also be sure the cap on the water reservoir of the portapot is tight....if not water can splash out while the boat is under way and could collect under the trash can....

also inspect the water supply line for the faucet and the drain line for the sink in the galley....if either one is leaking the water could collect under the trash can...
