2000 185 to 1999 215 EC

Dave,

We have a 2006 215WE and are completely satisfied with it. This past weekend, we made a 4-5 mile run across Lake Erie to Kelly's Island. We were running in 3-4 footers and the boat was solid.

When looking at older EC's check out the dry weight of the boat. Ours is 4,770 lbs. I was talking to an owner of a 2000 215EC, and he said his dry weight was about 1,000 lbs. less. I think when Sea Ray switched the model from an EC to a WE, some weight was added, but I am not certain.

As for swim platforms (standard on the 225WE), I have received a quote from a company in AZ that custom builds them. The cost was quoted at around $1,100 - $1,300.

Good luck in your search.

Well, I could not hold out. It was hard to do after getting approval from the wife and the bank. I thought about waiting until next season, but it is hard to pass up clearance from the control tower.

I ended up purchasing a 1999 215 EC. It has trim tabs, depth finder, double bimi, camper canvas, porta pottie, microwave, cool stereo, swim deck shower.

I think that is pretty good for options. Unfortunately it only has the 5.0L, but it is fuel injected. I am thinking that should be adequate. I am not looking to light the water on fire.

I will get some pics up when it arrives home this weekend. Oh Yea it is Maroon and white.

Congrats on the purchase!!! I know how it is being hesitant with buying a boat!! Can't wait to see the pictures.......never thought I would say this (since TTU's rivals are TX A&M) but maroon and white has a special place in my heart.

Sounds great, I can't wait to see pics. What are you doing with your 185? If I remember right they weren't going to take it in on trade....

Congrats on the new purchase. I think you'll be pleased with the horsepower. This past weekend, we had four adults and one teenager on board and we were able to push 47 mph with some room to spare.

Good luck and have fun!

Again, congratulations on the purchase...like I said in the other 215EC post, I'm jealous.

Pictures please! What would be great, and pics I've never seen of the 215 are photos of an adult in the cabin. How's the headroom?

I've looked through some 225 Weekender boats online, but they seem to be a newer model than the 215's. So their price is a bit steeper in that regard. I'm looking in the 1996-99 range for a 215EC. Though I think it was in 98 that they changed the main seats to the enclosed-bottom type, which I like better.

Anyway, pictures, pictures!

PS> I can't see PhotoBucket pictures at work, soooo....
