200 Sundeck Thread- Questions and Answers

I have an 06 200SD. Rear seat has a problem staying in place when trailering. Its pops up. I have replaced the rubber male, female parts that hold it down. However it has not helped. Is this a design flaw and does Sea Ray have a fix. Thanks for any help on this.

According to MM, this is a frequent occurence. I had them fix it by adding an aftermarket clamp while under warranty. Your local MM should be able to do this for you or you could do it yourself. It's an easy DYI mod.

Ok, let me ask a dumb question? Why are you highway trailering without your covers on?

Thanks guys for the info. Searay did reply also and said it could be the gas shocks. However I like the fix that MM did. I will contact them here in Phoenix.

Here in Az where we have 350 days of sunshine a year everyone trailers without covers for better gas mileage. It's even recommended by some of the boating magazines.

Hell I'm happy with 2.5 months of useable time a year. Anything over 100 days and I officially can have a heart attack thinking about that much enjoyment

OK we are back from our Mississippi excursion. I have some things to review...

Magma Grill:
The grill worked great and I am very happy with the type and location of the mount, I actually used it turned both fore and aft at different times. It was great to cook dinner on the boat while 2 hours for a barge to push through the Lock. Clean up is relatively easy as it comes with a easily removable grease pan underneath. The grill cools very quickly. Everything tastes better on the boat.

Camper Top:
This came in EXTREMELY handy during our trip. We needed it three times over the course of the week with HEAVY rains through Iowa and then again in Redwing MN on our way home. There are minimal leaks as there are some small holes where the zippers stop but with the 2" an hour rain and we were able to sit at a beach and watch a movie on the laptop, I would say it did its job. Great addition!

Smart Tabs:
I am VERY happy with the smart tabs. I noticed the difference right away; faster plane, plane at slower speed, and definitely did not feel the chop as much as we did before the tabs. I have yet to test with a boat full of passengers but I would say one of my best mods to date.

Oil in the bilge again... I will find out today what the issue is and let you know.

NICE CP!! I'm glad you had such a great time! And all the mod's worked so well! Laptop movies in the rain thats great!! If you have any pics you want to post I can host them for you no biggie.

Sounds like it was a trip of a lifetime!

What is your opinion on skeg guards? Mine skeg has gotten pretty beat up (about 5 pea size divits in my skeg). Is this something that I should have repaired? Cover with skeg guard? Try not to look at it? I am assuming if I cover with a skeg guard my spedo will become useless. Any thoughts on this? I know there have been discussions on the forum but I would like to get your thoughts anyway.

Thanks CP

Happy Spring Gang!!!

I am looking for the best travel cover I can find for my 200 sundeck. What is everybody using for trailoring?

Thanks
Chris

In my old 180 sport, I ground off about 2" of my skeg when the captains seat rotated during trailering and hit the trim down button. Skeg guard saved me a HUGE repair bill. I vote for covering it. My spedo was fine (alpha 1). Only issue was that the skeg guard would some times 'catch' seaweed and cause issues with the spedo reading.

If you don't mind, how much did the camper top cost you? I got a quote from Greatlakes for like $1,300 for my 220 SD....seems REALLY HIGH to me. They quoted me half that last year. Not sure what's going on....

I got my camper top finished and actually used it on a weekend camping trip with my wife. Sunday was actually a bit cold and extremely windy, my wife definately appreciated the top that morning.

Bimini side curtain set (port & starboard curtains) $330.65

Bimini aft curtain (attaches to the back of your top and slants to the back of boat) $292.15

Visor (isinglass panels at your windshield) $252.12

Plus UPS charges

So ended up being $950 or so with shipping.

Hope this helps.

I will be bringing her in for a trailorable mooring cover on Monday. It will snap down under the rub rail all the way around the boat. I am tired of trailoring issues (cockpit cover pulling off engine cover popping up etc...) It will be a one piece cover in navy to match the boat. I will take pictures when she is done.

I have the same problem with the engine cover and so I plan on installing a snap strap like the one that holds down the windshield. I don't trailer with the covers on.

If I did get a trailerable cover I would want one like Bryant makes for their boats. It fits down around the rub rail and has a ratchet system that tightens like a belt around the boat below the rub rail. When you see them going down the road they look like a boat with spandex on. Very tight and sleek. Bryant owners love them. Hint-hint S.R.

This is what I decided on for my travel cover. I will use it during storage as well, as it seems to keeps absolutely all the water out of the boat. The material I decided on is Aqualon Marine Canvas I chose this over the sunbrella because of Sunbrella's tendency toward fraying and Aqualon's water resistance. The cover is secured via snaps underneath the rub rail.

WOW Chris nice cover!!!

Chris,

Looks good 'n tight. You're a innovator! Let us know how well it works. Even if it's a complete disaster! E.g. The front pole pushes through sending a shock wave that instantly undoes 3-4 snaps, then more snaps come loose, and more, till the cover finally compleatly lets loose, flips up over the bimini ripping it off......... Just kidding, that probably won't happen.

Believe me, it's crossed my mind... ripping the bimini off was a nice touch however, I hadn't thought of that one. The vents that are on the poles are nice as they spread the pressure out over approx 3 reinforced inches, so much safer than it's original.

I just bought one and it cost me $1200 shipped (ouch). The origional price was $1500, but I got them down a bit. Where did you buy yours?
