200 Sundeck Thread- Questions and Answers

CT, everything I have heard of the smart tabs has been positive so after much research I went with them. Thanks to weave for guiding me to the right parts for the GPS mount. The only issue I am having right now is in rough conditions it will slide to the left or right. That can easily be fixed by putting some non slip grip on there. CP, You must be like superman diving for the window... I think I did the slow motion, mouth open, Ohhh $h!#.

Here are some pics of the GPS mounted.

I chose to bring the cable through the Compass mount location in case I ever want to do something else I can always cover the hole up with a compass.

Now that GPS looks SLICK!!! Cant wait to see and hear about the Tabs

Got my tabs yesterday but my boat is sitting at MM with her engine sitting next to her like a gutted fish laying on the shore. So I did not get anywhere on my installs this weekend.
Those darn gaskets are going to drive me to drink (more).

SLICK LOOKING:thumbsup:
Where did you get the cover for the wire pass-through and how much? Thats the last piece I need. Either that or a rubber grommet to protect the wire from the fiberglass.

Also guys, let me know how the tabs come out and how they work. I am contemplating tabs for our boat...Man I love this boat:grin:

I'm really leaning towards doing the tabs. Dam they look nice!

Weave, the piece you need is made by seachoice and called a clam shell vent and it was under a dollar.

How do you like havivng the grill there? I was thinking of doing mine somewhere on the swim platform under the ladder hatch like Todd (Nehelannia) did or putting an angle mount so I can stand on the swim platform and grill.....Just trying to get some ideas.

Those tabs look AWESOME....you have certainly hooked up that Sundeck! Looking great!
BTW, I see you have the trim switch and transom remote...Did you install or were those standard on your model?

The grill can swivel around so I can grill on either side. I chose that mount primarily because it was one of the few HEAVY DUTY mounts for the Newport. I thought about putting it under the ladder hatch also but I didn't want to prevent anyone from getting on and off the boat while the grill was on. With the time it takes heating up, cooking, then cooling down, I figured I would try to get it as out of the way as possible.

Both remotes came preinstalled on the boat. They are great to have, if you do not have them I think it would be a great addition. I use both quite a bit.

Great job on the Grill!

Not sure about the performance yet... My wife and I are taking a week long trip down the Mississippi next week and I don't think I am going to get it out prior to our trip. I will let you know when we get back how they worked.

Greetings from a new (used) Sea Ray owner. I bought an '03 200SD with a 5.0L two weeks ago. We immediately trailered it up to a chain of lakes in Manitowish Waters, WI for the week.
We didn't have a great start, as the cockpit cover came off within a mile of our house. The velcro attachment between the bow/cockpit covers seems to be the weak link. Anyone else with this problem ? Not sure if putting trailer straps around the area would help or if I need to bring in the cover to add grommets/zipper, etc.
We enjoyed the week on the lakes. Did some cruising, fishing, tubing. Had a few anxious moments, hitting hidden stumps in 4 ft of water - propeller has a few dings. A few questions for the experienced on the board:

- What depth do you consider safe in starting the boat out for skiing, tubing ?
- What is the most shallow water you will be in before trimming the prop up ?

thanks in advance,
JB

Welcome to the forum JB. You might want to think about having the Velcro replaced and be sure the poles are high enough that it keeps the cover from moving at all. If there is any movement in the cover it starts to unsnap itself.

In my opinion if you have to ask if its deep enough; its not deep enough... If I see 5 feet I start to trim up... But I think more importantly it is best to know the water you are boating in. If you don't have a current map or chart showing depth or have someone in the boat that knows that water, don't take anyone skiing until you learn it, SLOWLY... Luckily it was only your prop that got hurt.

cpditty,

Thanks for the help. I didn't mean to imply that I hit the stump while towing kids on a tube. I was very conservative when on plane - never less than 15 ft. of water. I hit the stump while motoring in a channel going as slow as I possibly could.

I have an 06 200SD. Rear seat has a problem staying in place when trailering. Its pops up. I have replaced the rubber male, female parts that hold it down. However it has not helped. Is this a design flaw and does Sea Ray have a fix. Thanks for any help on this.

Hi Rt, I have an 05 and had not had any problems as of yet with that and I trailer mine 200 miles a month on average. Sounds to me like someone might have replaced the gas shocks with after market ones from an auto parts store that are TOO powerful. You know "yeah they are the same stroke distance open and closed, Yeah they will be fine. Mentality "Check and see whats supposed to be on it stock and possibly look at changing them out.
