200 Sundeck Thread- Questions and Answers

I dont have a Sub in mine just a straight stock clarion. I was always wanting to update it and put an amp in and swap the speakers with a Sub install too. I'd love to see pics of yours as it progresses

I will definitely take some photos when I get the panel off. Probably start on it next weekend. I was also wondering if anyone actually has the stock subwoofer? Where did Sea Ray mount the amp??

I am hoping to keep the factory top. I went with the Aerial K2 tower paying little attention to over all height and if the top would work or not. Possibly can modify it or something. I'll just cross that bridge when I get to it. Ordered from H20 water sports decent price and free shipping. Hasnt arrived yet though. Speakers were a good value, they were twice the price on Crutchfield.com. Eyeing the Seadek product for the swim deck now. Anyone using it?
Gonna be a chilly weekend here in TX so I'll be changing fluids and the impeller this weekend.

If you dont mind me asking why did you choose teh aerial K2 over the factory tower?

Dont mind at all.
The K2 was 999.00 with free shipping from H20 watersports. When I called the people who build the factory towers they said the cost was 2,200 and 300 shipping. Huge price difference. Factory parts are always my first choice because the fit my application, whatever I am working on. I normally shy away from Universal Fit stuff because it never seems to fit right. Wife liked the K2 from the 7 choices I had picked out and to be honest I think it was one of my favorites. Sure hope it looks o.k. on the boat because there is really no going back. Would have been a whole lot easier to purchase something that already had a tower and was ready to go but that's not my style. Having to much fun adding stuff to make it mine. BTW, my boat is very similar to yours.
I am open to any sugestions if anyone has them.

I was in your same situation three years ago. The cost of the factory tower is rather pricy. Lucky i only live two hours from tenn so i was able to pick up the tower to avoid high shipping costs. My previous boat ( bayliner sport) i installed an aerial airborne. It was an excellent tower, high quality and lasted fine for the two summers we had the boat. It was also very easy to install.

With that said i reluctantly coughed up the money for the factory tower after purchasing the sun deck. Here is my honest opinion-

-quality of the factory tower is far superior
-factory tower is one solid peice (this makes it harder to install but much more sturdy)
-the sundecks fiberglass is already reinforced for the factory tower. aftermarket tower will require reinforcing the fiberglass
-factory tower allows the bimini to open and close.
-factory tower follows the curvature of the boat and sits right above the bimini. (very sleek look)
-the factory tower was tested by sea ray for structural strength
-After boarding behind both towers i can hinestly say the factory tower has less flex

Hopefully you will be happy with the aerial tower, i just wanted to share my experiences because like you said one you drill the first hole there is no looking back.

I appreciate you sharing. Another reason I went with the K2 is it did not have the side bars that follow the window glass frames. Most all of the aftermarket ones I saw that were built like that did not at all match the boat and looked really silly to me. This moring I noticed the tower I ordered is no longer on the web page for sale. Emailed the vendor and asked what the staus of my order was and how to initiate a refund because I am concerened that it has been discontinued. I placed the order on April 4 and still no tower, back order from polisher or something. Cound not even find it for sale on the Aerial web page eaither. So we shall see how this all plays out. 200 bucks for shipping is really not all that bad given the bulk of the item since it's one peice. Maybe I should call my local sea ray deler and see what they have available. Maybe a NOS peice I can make a deal on.

I just noticed I am the odd man out with a 200 select. What's the difference in the select vs the sundeck? Your boat looks real similar to mine.

Felt like I was getting the runaround from H20 Sports Warehouse so I just requested my money back. The aerial K2 tower has been discontinued, which is fine. Now I am back to square one. :smt017

Can someone tell me if a 22 foot long by 8 foot wide storage space be enough for my soon to pick up 2012 sun deck 200?
Thank you psindust.

I have a 9 foot door and it is very tight getting it in there. Boat is 8,4 plus a few more inches for the trailer.

Yes I did. I decided on the Indy Wakeboard Tower. They are supposedly pretty popular overseas, up and coming here in the states, supposedly. I got bids from several companies on custom made aftermarket units and for the money I felt like the indy tower was the best option for me. Won't be in till the end of the month though, sold out cause they are so popular, supposedly. I'll post some pics when I get it installed. Ordered the Seadek non skid stuff for the swim deck. Anybody have it?
Made a decision yet?

I've been looking at it for quite a while and really want to do it. I might just have to do it this season as I don't have any other "mods" on schedule. What did you go with?

I am putting it on the swim deck, and the area where you step into the boat. On my select there is a small seat on the port side that doubles as a step if you remove the seat bottom cushion. They already had the specs to cut out the swim platform so that was no problem. The small seat is a custom cut process so I had to order the template kit. Trace out the pattern on mylar and send it back to them with pictures, everything labeled. The instructions they sent with the kit were pretty specific about what information they wanted. I placed the swim platform order at the beginning of April and with shipping templates back and forth and CAD drawings of the two extra pieces I am hoping to have the finished product in my hand by the end of month. A very long wait time so don't get in a hurry if you decide to order it. Watching my daughter slip this past weekend getting out of water made me glad that I went ahead and ordered the stuff. Platform was 250 and change, and they charged me an additional 50 bucks for the 2 extra pieces.

What prop are you running? Anybody put something different on your boat or what prop did you boat come with? What kind of performance are you getting? Also does anybody have any pictures of where you have put a sub in your boat. Thanks

CT, I never saw pictures from your LED install. Do you like the mod? We would love to see them if you haven't already posted them.

Chris

Hi Chris, Which LED's? On the transom Ocean LED's I did, I didnt do the interior leds yet.

I swapped out my stock Mirage 3 blade 21 pitch for a Revolution 4 blade 19 pitch. I couldn't be happier. Although I lost a couple mph at top end, it pulls out of the hole faster and gets on plane in no time. With seven people on board I can get her up on plane with the 4 blade where I couldn't with the 3. I also have a little better low speed control.

I have some items for sale if you are interested. These were all on my 2006 200 Sundeck
PM me if you are interested.

1. Great Lakes Camper top
a. front window
b. 2 side curtains
c. Rear window
Look back in this thread to view pictures $400

2. Canvas Craft Custom Travel/Storage Cover (snaps under rub rail all the way around) $400

Happy new year. Funny story about our wake board tower that happened last year. The distributor in Fort Worth emailed mid summer and asked if we had any pictures they could use for the web site. I emailed the only one we had and they have had it up on the web site ever since http://www.wakefool.com/ (blue Sea ray with my son hanging off the front). I didn't think it was all that great since the top was up and you couldn't see much of the tower but they liked it, I've seen it on their website overseas also. I thought I would share since a few of you asked to see pics. We have since replaced the top with a bimini from Aerial Wakeboarding, so I think it looks alot better.

I am planning on adding some bags for this summer and have been looking at different ways of running water lines and hooking it all up. Has anyone added ballast bags to their's? If so how'd you plumb it? I've spent some time on wakemakers.com doing research but haven't decided on anything yet, except the bags. I ordered those a few weeks ago, just gotta hook them up now.
