Hi all!

I'm really considering upgrading my stock stereo in our scoot but I'm really not sure of all the options I have for my boat. The boat only came with the Clarion stereo in the glovebox, two reg speakers and two tweaters.

My main question is does anyone have any suggestions on placement of more speakers (possibly in front and rear), an amp and maybe a sub??? I'd like to get this thing sounding good but I really dont want to mount my sub under my rear seat, that would just take up too much room I think.

Any suggestions would be OUTSTANDING!:smt038

According to your picture you have a wakeboard tower. I thought that was the reason to buy the tower.

Not really suggesting this site just to give you an idea:

My salesman told me that the speakers on the tower werent that great, so I didnt go with them.

I thought that would be great but he said that they were pointless because they for the boarder, he could just use a iPod.

But looking at that pic, it that your boat???? Those lights are bad a$$!!! How'd you do that?

that is a picture from searay.com. 210 fission, but I disagree with your salesperson on the speakers on the tower not being good.

Besides, they're up there in the wind where the sound waves will be distorted and sound bad.

What do you all think about drilling out a hole in the fiberglass in the front of the boat (down under the seat where your legs are) to mount a flat speaker or two?? Thinking that one speaker mounted up there would do the trick of putting some sound up front, I guess two would be a bit better.

I was also considering drilling out a spot along the walkway to the bow, right there on the side before you get to the door. I'd like to mount a sub there possibly.

What do you guys think about putting holes in spots like that? Is there a concern for cracking after the fact????

Also thinking of mounting a amp up under the glovebox....any suggestions on mounting, speaker or amp brand??

Thanks

Jeremiah

Subs are usually put out of sight somewhere, since the bass will resonate throughout the space they occupy, and they're not really directional freq's. Those speakers up in the top, unless you're boating alone on the lake, and no one else is within ear shot of you or on the shoreline anywhere(and sound travels well across the water) I'd prefer not to hear your music if I want quiet or even if I want to listen to my music at a low level, or the ball game. (gawd, I sound old... and to think when I was a teen, I would play my rock'n'roll on my parents console stereo so loud, I could hear it almost 1/4 mile away... my neighbors were saints...)

On the topic of the cockpit lights. I have a few of those lights(one in the front bow, another under the aft port side step seat) in my 210 select, but I'd like to install some of the others under the dash and maybe on the sides there. Does anyone know how they get that blue hue of light? Mine are currently white, or yellow.

Thanks for the reply about the speakers.....yeah, I dont want the tower ones because of that. Just want to get some good sound out of the boat, I want a good clear sound vice a loud annoying sound, the current setup isnt cutting it.

So, with these amp, light upgrades etc...is there a electrical system upgrade required or will my stock system run everything fine?

i purchased a 10" bazooka marine subwoofer and installed it under the dash cooler/footwell area. theres a small "shelf" under there and the sub fits just fine. i've also added a 5- channel mtx amp that powers the sub along with the frt spkr/tweeter combo. i did the install when i bought the boat back in 05'. the sound was better but it was confined to the mid-lower part of the boat. i did purchase a pr. of polk/momo component spkrs to replace the factory ones along with the same but coaxials to add to the rear side panels recently. i was pretty impressed with these spkrs in the current searay lines @ the boat show. i plan on running a mono sub amp along with a 4-ch amp. my searay dealer gave me some pointers on installing these spkrs along with how to mount them @ the vinyl side panels w/o damage.

VTSeaRay... And MXer478....

Just ran across this thread and noticed both of you commented on the "Lights" that are in the Fission pic that Wesley posted....

I tackled that job last summer by installing blue LED's throughout my entire Sport 195....

The job was very easy..... I purchased the blue LED kits from a local motorcycle shop (waterproof), ran 12 gauge speaker wire around the entire boat (basically created a wiring harness for the lights), followed the directions that came with the lights, and then it was "Plug and Play".... Wherever I wanted blue lights, I simply "T-Tapped" into the speaker wire (one side positive, one side ground) and BAM! Let there be light! I also installed a small toggle switch beneath the steering wheel storage area (hidden) for easy access for the blue glow! All of the lights are hidden, so during the day no one even notices them. But, when the sun starts going down and we start heading towards the docks, I simply flip a switch... The lighting makes for a pretty good conversation piece!

There's a total of 15 blue LED pods in my boat. All of the storage areas, all of the cup holders, the 2 vents on the rear of the boat, and the 4 speakers on the interior of the boat (Didn't do any lights on the tower speakers.... Trying to avoid Johnny Law-on-the-water... Would resemble an emergency craft, and here in Texas, your pretty certain of getting a ticket!) With all of them on, the power consumption is extremely low.... They only pull a total of 620 milliamps.... No electrical upgrade required.

If your interested, here's a couple of sites that offer LED lighting.....

Here are a couple of pics of my boat with the blue LED's..... Haven't done it yet, but I'm getting ready to install several pods beneath my swim platform!

Hey Wesley... I'm telling you... You should just call the audio shop that's doing your work and get the rest of those red LED's installed!

Which LEDs exactly did you buy? I went to the web sites but I am a little confused about exactly how to do what you did. I think your boat looks great!! I would like to do something similar, wiring them isn't a problem but figuring out what lights to buy is my problem.

Merge360, what he said!

I really like what you've done to your boat with the lighting! That's similar to what I want to do, but I'm not sure which LED lights to get.

I sent you a PM.

Hey everyone!

Thanks for the compliments on my boat! Ok, here's the information you asked for:

The LED's I purchased came from a motorcycle shop here in Houston called "Cycle Gear"... I used a total of 2 packages (I think.... I can't remember!). I followed the directions to the "T" for hooking them up on a motorcycle, but just adapted them for the boat. I did, however, have to lengthen some of the wiring from a couple of the pods (because they are for a bike). But, other than that, the project was really easy.

I did use a different style LED for the cupholders. I purchased those thru Super Bright LED's. They are the "ULITE Round LED accent lights"...

Here's a couple of links for some of the LED's. The first is to Cycle Gear.... They have many different colors to choose from. I went with blue simply because it looks the brightest and the "Wildest"! The second link is to Super Bright LED's.... They have a really great selection to choose from... The third link is another LED site called "Oznium".... I've gotten stuff thru them to.... They also have a very good selection of LED's.....

I'm getting ready to embark on another LED project on the boat.... Placing blue LED's beneath the swim platform! I've seen it done and it looks REALLY GOOD! Looks like a UFO hovering on the water!

Hope this helps you all out with any questions you might have had!

re: swim deck lighting

Nice, I'd like to see pics of that (day and night) and how you do it and keep the wiring hidden/out of the water!

or you also can visit the www.ledlightingnet.com LEDlightingnet offers home LED light bulbs for daily and specialized uses. One of the most common uses for these bulbs is in flood lighting, which is frequently used for safety or festivity purposes. They are also used in light bars, for lighting special areas and workspaces, and in home fixtures. Bulbs of different intensities can be used for ceiling and wall fixtures in bathrooms and kitchens. led Light strips

I bought some LEDs from www.ledlightingnet.com to play
with. They look pretty good, but I'm not sure a single LED
would provide enough light. I'm thinking about kludging
together a few LEDs with a resistor, and mounting it in
one of the interior covers.
Spruce sells some lights for $60 or $140, which is crazy.
The LEDs at superbright cost about $1.50 each, and the
mounting bezel is $.25. A 3 LED light would cost less
than $10.
