Morning all,

I'm wondering if anyone knows how to reset the hour glass looking alarm on the hour meter gauge. I'm assuming that that is what it is, it looks like an hour glass, it's blinking and beeping twice every 2-3 minutes... I've been doing the maintenance so i'd rather not have to schedule any shop time if it's a simple fix.

Also the starter on the gen just clicks without turning the gen over at all. I don't believe it to be a battery issue because the engine starts just fine. Anyone have any exerience with this?

Thanks in advance!

You can't change / "reset" the hours on an hour meter.

As to the gen, if it's not the battery check the cable connections. If that's all good, it's likely the solenoid.

Thanks for the response.

What I'm trying to figure out is how to reset the hour glass looking alarm within the hour meter gauge display.

I can identify the hour meter because of the numbers, but the symbol that I see is definitely NOT a number. However it is next to the numbers.

First things first. Is the generator engine able to turn over and not locked up? If the engine is able to turn over freely by hand and you are still hearing the starter click but the starter will not turn over then the starter motor bearings are most likely bad and allowing the armature to lay on the field winding. This is what shorting it out. Short version: Starter shot. Replace it and you should be good to go.

I don't know if your boat is new enough to have on board dianostics but it sounds like the service needed is coming on. This is usually selected by the owner so he is alerted to when the next service is. It can be reset and the instructions should be in your owners manual. Don't know if it applies to your boat but there you go.
