2004 sea ray sundancer 260 with a 350 MAG engine and a Bravo 3 outdrive

Yesterday i went for a ride was out on the bay anchored all day no issues on the way back i was around 4200 rpms and 28kts and all of a sudden i heard the alarm go off. it was 1 beep every 1 min.

The boat still had power and was driving fine, once i got to the no wake zone i slowed it down. Than once i got closer to my dock i slowed down again and that's when it shut off on me. Tried to start it nothing. . .

I did started it with Advance Throttle and she idles fine around 1500, than i put it in Neutral so i can put in gear it turned off on me. . .
Started again with the throttle on and i was able to put in in neutral and in gear very very very fast that's how i got to the nearest dock and left it there. . .

I called my marina and told em waiting on mechanic to take a look at it or run his computer to see what the code is...

Anyone here has any idea what this could be? Shift cables? IAC? Switch Interrupter?

Thanks Nick

IAC. I'm sure your mechanic will figure it out.

Hi @Lazy Daze How are you Dennis. . . That is what i am thinking as well the IAC, ill wait till after lunch to hear back from the marina/mechanic if not ill just get the part and head down to the marina and do it myself. How ever i think i did get a reading on the smartcraft gauge that said Engine Haus ive been trying to look that up but i cant seem to find much info about it. . . have you heard of that before?

IAC,, about a 10 minute fix. if you want to DIY, Standard Motor Parts #AC 423, available on Amazon for $ 43 ,
I carry a spare onboard, cause its an easy, inexpensive part to have available if needed.

Hi DJ, "Engine Haus"... no, I am not personally familiar with that. I'm sure they'll hook their computer and check into it with more detail. I believe it's a Ford IAC that's used - so you could get it aftermarket - maybe NAPA. That's probably what Garry is referring to - or something similar, anyways.

Thank you fella's, i think this is my boat is trying to slap me in the face because on Saturday i signed a contract and listed her for sale ... will repalce the iac and see what happens after that. . .

My 2003 320DA behaved very similarly. It stalled on me when the alarm when off (I was idling) and wouldn't start without full throttle. In my case, it wasn't the IAC at all. It was the water pressure sensor. Unfortunately, it was a $150 item instead of a $43 item. But it's something else to look at, if the IAC swap doesn't fix it.
