Surprised the soundtrack made it past the Youtube police. Could always get flagged later on.
Dominic was an Eagles fan (I don't mean the Philadelphia Eagles... I mean the band). And I'm partial to Rush (one of the perks of being the executive producer) fitting song too. The last song had a lot of meaning in his life.

Looks like a great time! Nice job on the video! Wish I could have made it, maybe by next year.

Damn that laundry! And the slack lines on the davits... You should have told me you were coming and I would have had her "photo ready". Nonetheless, beats the alternative (of not being there).

I noticed my video did NOT make it past the YouTube sound police so I re-uploaded it with out the specific sections of video that got flagged for copyright infringement :smt101

Looks like a gofast boat race!
Rick, just curious...why no AP? I'd think hanging on to that wheel would get tiring.

A short video I got while messing around with the Go Pro of St Somewhere (Tim) out in the Chesapeake Bay leaving Atlantic City headed home.

It was WAY rougher than that video makes it look and I was getting to much yaw out of the autopilot.

Makes sense. The video really doesn't do the conditions justice, that's for sure. But video and pix generally don't. You gotta be there!

It wasn't loose until I got to New Joisey. The seat base is a Garelick and it eats some of the screws that hold it together. I have replaced the lift cylinder once and most of the screws 4 or 5 times because they keep shearing off.

Maybe I should stay in calmer waters?

Yeah, mine is a bit loose too. I need to see if there is some beefing up I can do.

That's one way to reduce the forces applied to the seat. The other would be to reduce the mass of the load.

If you guys need some extra heavy flanges or tubing fabricated, let me know.......

Re: 1st Annual Dominic Annunziata Memorial Rendezvous -Farley State Marina, Atlantic

Well, it is in my plans "...to reduce the mass of the load..." by starting to ride my bike 150 miles a month again. Wise a$$.

In the meantime, the weak point is the screws holding the tubing together. They get a tad loose, the tubes begin to move and the heads shear off. Locktite does not help. Any suggestions?

Rick, I'm gathering the GoPro either has one helluva mounting system or some kind of bitchin' image stabilization system or both... the pics of you in the ocean are rock solid, particularly for the conditions. As was the one of me running, but that was Sissapeake water. Smooth as silk...

My seat is loose too.... where does one source these shear-o-matics, I mean screws? Are yours the flush kind with allen heads?

Man... you talk about me breaking sh!t and leaving parts all over the ocean... I think there is a trail of parts still out there from your ride.

I think we need to put the wise guy on it! He wants a 410DA someday so he should design a stronger solution for us now! Calling my mass a load... hah!

Re: 1st Annual Dominic Annunziata Memorial Rendezvous -Farley State Marina, Atlantic

    GoPro
    (not my words)

The GoPro does not have image stabilization per se, but it does have features that make the image very stable.

The GoPro has a very wide angle lens (170 degree) which makes the image look very stable even in rough conditions - basically the wider the lens the smoother the video will look and the GoPro has the widest lens off all the helmet cams. If you look at the demo videos on GoPro's site you notice they all look very stable.

The reason GoPro (and all the other helmet cam manufacturers) don't use image stabilization algorithms in their cameras is because they tend to actually make the video worse. Image stabilization works well when the user is stationary because it allows the algorithm to "lock on" to stationary objects (like trees, mountains etc) - the algorithm then stabilizes the image by keeping everything stationary in relation to those objects. This doesn't work for helmet cams because there is way to much motion in the shot and no consistent stable objects for the algorithm to lock on to.

The screws are 5mm or 8mm or something normal and I have purchased them from West Marine. They had an Allen head on the originals, but, I have replaced them with Phillips.

Dude...I could not find a single broken part (other than the helm seat screws). Now, that's not to say that stuff didn't move around. My 5D MK II/f2.8 16-35mm lens jumped off the front berth onto the salon floor. Luckily all the pillows got there first. That could have been an EXPENSIVE mistake.
