Hi, we're new to the forum and to our Sea Ray Sundeck 240, and we have some questions about the water system.

We don't have a manual and the one we got off line doesn't explain much about how to use the water system, so any help would be appreciated.

Also, we filled up the water tank today and can hear the pump running when we turn on the switch, but neither of the sprayers work.

We want to change the filter but don't really know where it is on the unit.
Also, how does the water system tie in with the onboard head?

Any info/insights are welcome. Thank you.

My 240 is newer style, but the systems should be similar, so I'll try. My pump is in the engine compartment, port side. Water tank on starboard. Open the hatch, turn on pump and find the noise :)

When I got my boat, the motor ran, but the diaphragm inside was bad. Your local RV Camper store may have the parts in stock. I just took the whole pump in to show what I had, and just replaced the entire pump, not expensive.

When you drain or winterize the system, the pump will run a while if there is air in the lines. Hold the payers open until water comes out. It can take a minute. There is a filter on the pump under a 1" or so plastic cap, mine is clear. If it is clogged with junk, or loose, you get no water. I disconnect lines every winter to drain system, they need to be tight or you get leaks, If the pump sucks air on the intake side, it doesn't work.

Regarding the head, it depends on what you have. Most have a standard port-a-potty. It is not connected at all, just carry it out to empy waste and refill fresh water. Some have a pump out head, hoses connected to back of port-a-potty going to fitting on deck, similar to your gas cap. The marine can vacuum waste from there, but you still have to fill water manually though the cap on the back of the head. Now that my kids are older than 6, we took ours out so there is more storage. We keep a large trash can in there now.

Hope this helps.

Dear Randmhall,

Thanks! I'll start by removing the pump, checking the filter and taking it in to our local marine (which is quite literally a stones throw) to have it checked over.

My water tank is located right about mid ship right between the head and the sink. I access it from the floor storage area, not the engine.

I know that my head is a pump out, so I'll now look for the deck fitting.

Can't thank you enough. I'll let you know how it goes!
