1999 270 DA SE wire running help needed.
I need to run a wire from my stereo that's in the cabin in the A/C panel on the port side of the boat up to one of the dash swithches on the starboard side.
Any tips to what is the best route or way to run this wire?
The sliding cabin door plays a big part in my problem.
THANKS...

I have run several wires between those areas and ended up routing them thru the engine compartment. Maybe not the most direct route, but fairly straight-forward to accomplish.

You can drop down from the panel thru the cabinet and into the chase under the mirror in the aft cabin. Then route along the firewall (over the fresh water tank in my boat) to the starboard side and follow the steering cables up to the dash area.

Hint - anytime I run cables like this I pull an extra string for future projects. I probably have a dozen such strings scattered around the boat.

Good luck.

Re: 1999 270 DA SE wire running help

THANKS, I'm new to this boat, and just learning all the in's and out's.
I just can't figure out for the love of money why the STEREO in the cabin only works when you have the KEY on.
They have a switch on the dash for everthing in the world, but the Stereo.
So I'd like to switch the hot wire from the factory stereo to one of the extra dash switches, so I can turn on or shut off the stereo as I please.

THANKS!!!

You shouldn't have to run a long wire to accomplish that. The stereo gets it's power from a circuit breaker located beneath the steering wheel. All you have to do is reroute the power wire that feeds this breaker to a non-ignition source. That source could (optionally) incorporate an unused switch if so desired.

This could all be accomplished at the dash power panel.

i have a 1999 270 and if you turn the key to the left only the stereo works

YES, your correct about the key, but I'd like to be able to turn the stereo on and off from the dash w/ out having to go down to the cabin.

Re: 1999 270 DA SE wire running help

Thanks for the help, I'll check it out this weekend.
One more question to all 270 DA SE owners, 1999
Why is the table in the cabin so LOW?
I'm not sure if I'm missing somthing or WHAT??
When I put the pole (it looks like the factory pole, looks UNCUT) into the floor hole to the base of the factory table to make the cabin table it is only about 8" above the seat, it's right on my legs, is this correct or are we missing somthing???

OK, Bad news, Good news.
Bad news, NO pop out breaker at the helm for the stereo!!! Just a dead plug where the stereo pop out breaker should have been.
GOOD news, I was able to cut the hot RED wire from the stereo back add enough wire to snake the (1) HOT wire all around the trim in the aft cabin and snake it up from the small access door in the aft cabin on the starboard side up to the helm, then remove the (1) wire that was for the PORT WIPER that I don't have, and then put (1) simple female connector on my red hot wire to feed the stereo power, and now I have a nice switch that I can turn the stereo on and off from the helm, and I don't have to turn on the key to make it work. (never liked anyone messing w/the key when we are docked) It also is dead when you shut off the battery switch.

THANKS for all your HELP!!!
