Well before putting the boat up for the weekend and after inspecting/scrubbing on the outdrives and bottom of the boat I took it out for a nice 4K RPM run up and down the river a good piece...... LD never missed a beat. Ran smooth and steady.

Nope, the coupler is where the engine connects to the driveshaft on the drive. They're a hard rubber and rarely go bad as long as the outdrive is in alignment and you keep it well greased. I know you've got some big repairs scheduled (transoms?) but if the boats coming out anyways it's easy to drop the drives and check alignment/bellows/etc if it will still be a bit until the next service.

Well it's that time of year again.

Fresh water, bilge and head systems all winterized and pinked.

Heaters on and temp sensors in the cabin, bilge and helm active. Time to enjoy the holidays and then head back to the boat and do a little winter boating.

BTW is it just me ..... if you drop anything into the engine area it is not longer to be seen?

Yes, it’s that time of year....winterizing
For me it’s a fall overhaul!
Raw water pumps, circulating pumps, thermostats and risers/manifolds.
    She’s getting a fresh look.

    Ducky,
I’m curious if you have the same setup as far as spacers on your risers. I have a 3” spacer then a 1 1\4” spacer. I learned that the 1 1/4 is no longer made. Fortunately for me I stumbled on a marina that had 4 laying on their shelve, otherwise I’d be screwed.
I spoke with Sea Ray and Mercruiser and both pointed fingers at the other. Mercruiser said to put a 6” spacer in (I don’t have clearance for that). Worried if I only used the 3” spacer I’d have issues with water entering up through the exhaust. These are pics of my setup.

I really haven't paid any attention to the riser size. Here is two of the better pictures I have of the current set up. Compared to your new 3" riser mine look like they are 2"..... but I would have to measure to be accurate.

Looks like a 3” spacer. Well I guess on my next riser/manifold change I’ll use just the 3”
Especially since the smaller spacer is no longer available.

I have a 2000 290 Sundancer and am in the middle of doing manifolds and risers. I ran into the same problem. I had the smaller spacer made at a local machine shop out of stainless. There is a reason they added that spacer. I was told they had ingestion problems and SeaRay added the spacer. Give me a call if you would like help having them made. 978 836 8084.

Another great day on the boat....... is it spring yet? :)

I upgraded the little TV the other week but found it was so light and the base of the TV was really nonexistent ..... I knew I had to do something before it ended up on the floor. I considered mounting it to the wall but just hated the thought of messing with the vinyl on the wall so I made a little rear mount from a TV pipe mount bought off of Amazon and some 1" pipe pieces from Lowes. I used some HD Velcro on the pipe flange with anchors the TV to the little shelf. If over time the velcro doesn't work I'll use a little set screws and mount it to the shelf.

Nice little 19" from BestBuy. $69

Well I'm pleasantly surprised after a great weekend doing some spring cleaning on LD II I got out the rest of my canvas pieces that I knew came with the boat when I bought it but never unwrapped until today. I'm hoping it will keep the interior clean(er) when the pine pollen blooms in the next few weeks and turns everything yellow. Except for a plastic tooth missing on one of the zippers the pieces looks great for being 20 years old.

I bought them and thanks to prime should be here today. After I get them installed I can post some pictures of them and how they turned out. I just purchased my Sundancer on sunday so I may have some more questions for you.

You can zap me a private message or hit up the SeaRay 290 thread to post any questions you might have.

The 1998 model 290 was a one off year but many of the systems should be similar to the 2000.

Had a hard start to the weekend.

One of my new serpentine belts installed last weekend decided to shred into pieces on my evening cruise Friday. With one engine dead and no power steering I putted it back to the marina and managed to maneuver around all the docks and back it into my slip.

Walked down to the marina parts counter this morning and wouldn't you know it ... belt 57-861758 is an odd one that needs to be ordered. Around $50-70 online but it's the weekend so after a few calls found a belt at another marina for $100. .

So a dock mate said to go to O'Reilly's and see what they have. Low and behold. They closely matched the belt...just slightly longer (4mm) ..... for $23. Bought 2 so both engines are running the same rubber and they worked like a charm. So far.

So if your engine calls for 57-861758 and you need a belt K060864 works great.

The idler pulley is pretty close to the end of its adjustment range so now that I know the actual size of the belt needed I might see if there's a smaller automotive belt available if anything happens to these. o_O

I have to add..... I actually used the shower in the boat twice this weekend vs. heading to the marina shower. I it worked better than expected. It gets the job done plus it allows me to clean the bathroom at the same time. ;)

I never go put without Tleast 2 extra belts now either. Mine shredded on first trip too. Any auto parts store carries the belts u need. Under $25 is not a bad price for a spair to keep in a jam 20180818_093249.jpg 20180818_093249.jpg 20180818_093249.jpg
