Fire selling a 1998 Searay Sundancer 500. The boat was maintained with an OPEN CHECKBOOK, and WAS in immaculate condition until we pulled it to get the engines rebuilt. (Only one engine needed work because a dock hand put GAS in the tank. We rebuilt both - remember open checkbook). The engines are the desired Detroit 6V-92s - tons of power. This 50ft boat runs like a ski boat.

Now the bad part - The first mechanic left the doors open and neglected the boat. The inside got rain, moister, was uncovered so sun damage. The interior needs to be totally redone (not everything but a lot), needs new upholstery and the gel coat needs to be brought back to life. It needs some TLC. We spent well over 100k (all receipts provided) on the rebuilds. They are for all practical purposes brand new engines (with warranty). All parts are genuine Detroit and these are a block down (complete) rebuilds. Boat is located in Houston, TX and can be show to serious buyers. I have a TON of as-is pics for those interested.

Heck of a first post :)

Sounds like she has been on the hard for quite a while? Have the rebuilt engines been run/broken in?

Been out of water for about 3 years total. Engines have not been broken in. Just ran after rebuild. No hours.

Yea pictures would be good, especially for this one.

I'm not in the market for (another) project, but I'd like to hear the the backstory on how a boat goes from open checkbook to 3 years of neglect. Does this involve a lawsuit or insurance claim etc?

Justin can you send me pics? Almightys at yahoo dot com

maybe he sold it.
I tried to follow links here and where they brought me to advertise my 390 ec is for sale.

I do not think he has been on for a long while now.

I purchased the boat and ít is in the process of a refit. If I can figure out how to post pictures I will upload them. This vessel has a interesting history.
