Are the bilge pumps on this model only in the engine space? Is there one for the forward compartment, under the step (where the shower sump is located?

Lastly, is there any drainage from the front part of the boat to the rear mechanical space?

Had a relative’s boat suffer a partial sinking yesterday due to mechanic error. Engine space drained fine but lots of water in the cabin that’s not draining.

You are correct (at least on a 1999 which I believe are the same). I have two bilge pumps in the bilge, one is mounted higher than the other, and then there is one under the step below the garbage can, HOWEVER it's not a true bilge pump in that sense, it's a shower box pump. So if water is in the cabin there is no way to get it out except as you picture shows. That's a lot of water. I had a window leak and it left me with a little water under the step. Resealing Windows fixed that.

I wonder in your pictured boat if the fresh water line under either sink leaked?

Thanks for the confirmation.

It’s not fresh water.

The mechanic failed to tighten the cap for the air con strainer. The bilge pumps kept up until the batteries gave out (on a mooring). Boat was about 1/3 sunk. Water about 1/2 way up the engine.

In later years, Sea Ray started to install a bilge pump (outside of the sump box). But, as noted, not in that era - it would be right next to the sump box (like you're used to with your AJ) if it was and you would find it easily - it wouldn't be hidden anywhere.

The cabin is purposefully isolated from the engine room to keep engine room smells out of the cabin (and possible CO). However, there could be small gaps somewhere that water coudl have snuck by - especially when the boat was sitting aft end down in the water.

Ouch - sorry or hear that.
