1998 250 Sundancer(Kenyon Butane Stove)

I have never used one before so I put in a new can of butane, I lined up the notch put the cap on and tightened etc and I hear hissing. Is there supposed to be an o-ring or something? I am afraid to ignite to try it while I am hearing hissing.... Please help...(no o-ring on car,what seals it in?)

I will assume the burner dial is in the ‘off’ position.

Hissing like “Ssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss” is bad. Take the can out.

A brief “Pst” as you plug it in is normal.

Turn the burner on. Now you should hear “Sssssssssssssssssssssssss”

I’m trying to remember how your light the darn thing. It’s been almost a year since we had our 1998 240 Sundancer that had this setup.

Somehow you create a spark. I think you press the burner on/off dial button or press or turn something. The spark starts the flame.

I don’t remember a O ring.

There was a Kenyon recall in 2001. Make sure yours is not this one:

Worst case, these are not too expensive to replace. Check Target and Walmart, which sell them as well (non Kenyon brand, but use butane tanks).

It could actually be the can. maybe a bad valve in the can...
