5.7L Alpha One w/ a 16x16P prop.
Hey all, I am trying to find a few pieces of information about a 97 Sea Ray 240 Sun Dancer.

Does anyone know the max prop diameter for that year boat with the MercCruiser 5.7L.

Does anyone know the gear ratio on that model?

Thanks for the help in advance.

The gear ratio is printed/stamped onto the starboard side drive sticker.

May I ask why you're concerned with the diameter? Typically all you need to worry about is the pitch and the diameter will take care of itself.

I have a book at work that can give ratios, but you'll have to be more specific as to which 5.7L you have and what drive.

However, even the book can be wrong as SR will sometimes make changes during the model year.

I will go out to the boat later today and look for the gear ratio thanks. In regards to the diameter, the boat came with a 16"x16P when I bought, which had damage on it, so I put the 15"x17P (stock prop) back on. I am looking to go back to a 16"x16P however, one thing I noted is that with the 16" dia, there was not much room between the stern housing and the prop blade, maybe a 1/2" - 1". I wanted to make sure I am not hurting anything by going back to the 16" dia prop.

You're fine with that clearance.

IIRC, the stock prop would have been something like 14 to 14 1/2" x 19pitch. Just be careful you don't over rev.
