1997 400 Sundance Home Made Hardtop

I would like to see more pictures of this. What year is that boat. I may fab something like that behind the helm seat.

 

It’s time to start the aft portion of the hardtop

 

First day in the shop

 

Adding more crown to the back. First layer of 1708 and adding 10” to the aft end. I need to get it to the test fit point by weeks end so I can cover the boat.

 

Today’s was a trim, grind, and begin the foam reinforcement around the arch era day.

 

Test fit and rough shape complete.

 

I flipped it over and started adding foam to stiffen and give character.

 

Yes, I learned a lot from the front half. I am eliminating many unnecessary steps. I am using peal ply more often and it is eliminating a huge amount of sanding. Fingers crossed. Thanks for the support. It helps keep me going.

 

Oh ya. There will be a very big wait before accepting orders!

This is where I’m at as of today. I haven’t been hitting it as consistently as I did with the previous half. I promised myself I would try harder.

 

Sand. Fill. Repeat.

 

Bottom photo. Topside with rolled on base coat of bright white gel coat. I use this as a primer to look and repair imperfections (the bumps are where there were pin holes. I use gel coat to fill them in).

Top photo is the bottom side ready for a base layer of bright white.
