I bought this boat while in storage with a financial holdback. I am about to splash and sea trial. I was told to expect one of the tachs to "stick" for about ten minutes when starting up.
Is there anything I can clean or tighten or --- before replacing any parts?
Thanks. JS

Bliss, those tachs can be a bit "moody". There is a switch on the back of the tach to set it for 8 cyl, 6cyl, etc. When mine starts to act eratically, flipping this switch back and forth a few times clears things up. <you'll need a small screw driver>. It takes some time to get to the back of the tach <guage panel has to be removed, etc>. In the big picture, this is a minor issue, unless it is covering up the number of hours run

Thanks. I'll give it a try when I replace the dashboards in a few weeks. I have them but no time right now. Do you know where the tach attachs at the engine? Jim

Replaced our port one, $400+, darn thing still bounces and sticks\hangs up. I guess it's just a trait of this tach.

Now I have a tach problem. I am replacing the dash panels and did the upper gauge panel this weekend. All looked good until I tried to start the engines. The needle on the strb tach fell off and I have a short in another gauge. As my boat is a 1995 330 DA, I assume these style guages are no longer available? Can they be taken apart for repair? Do you know who the manufacturer is? Can I send it back to them for repair? I don't want to buy gauges that don't match the others. Any advice?

Thanks
Larry

Larry, ouch! No good project goes unpunished! *&%@#$! Maybe Faria Insruments in Uncasville, CT. Good luck and keep us posted.

The gauge package is a Teleflex product made for Sea Ray under a proprietary agreement.

Your boat may be old enough for Sea Ray's agreement on replacements to have expired, otherwise, Teleflex won't help you other than to send you to your Sea Ray dealer for them to order replacements.

And get the wallet out, these gauges through Sea Ray are more expensive. I priced 'non Sea Ray' and 'Sea Ray' when replacing our volt meter, almost double the price through the Sea Ray dealership.

Frank,

Who should I ask to get an honest answer about whether or not my 1999 tach is still elligible for replacement? I know that the original owner had one replaced, but the other is erratic now.

As follow-up, I was able to fix mine. I was able to GENTLY pry off the trim ring around the dial <it is glued>, remove the class, and put the needle back it. I start the engine and "calibrated it" the best I could, then a little glue and reassembled. So far, it has held together. A 'no money" repair. My fav. kind.
