1997 330 Sundancer instrument panel replacement

I just wanted to mention that I had read this thread about the fact that Scott will make dash panels. I have always hated the condition of the panel for the three years that I owned my 270DA. This thread prompted me to contact Scott. He answered promptly, and said that he would do it if I would like. I sent the old one for “replicationâ€. I received the panel that he made last week and installed it. I am very satisfied on the quality of the product that he made. The panel was an exact copy down to the screen printed text on it, and it fit perfectly. So basically Scott, A) Did what he said he was going to do. B)Did it in the time frame that he said. C)Did it for the price that he said. I think all that translates to a satisfied customer. Thanks Scott!

I am going to try to attach a photo of the old and one of the new to show the difference

I have the same problem.

Have you tried to get new panels from Sea Ray?

Here are the OEM Part numbers:

#919308 - Gauge Panel
#769281 - Swich Panel
#772285 - Control Staion Breaker Panel

the first is 500 dollars from SeaRay
the second is 450 from SeaRay
and the third is 300 dollars from SeaRay
all prices are just for the panels themselves and are discountinued which is why a member here contacted me to duplicate them. I sell the first two for 350 for both  Besides, even if you could get the SeaRay ones, they are made from the wrong material, this is why they are no longer available. If you need a set I can assure you , you will like what I am making, so far I have had excellent feedback on the fit, finish and quality.

I am almost done with the whole set for the 400 series too, these will be ready is a mantter of days, they are HUGE so it take some time, but I will definetly post up some pics.

thanks so much for the compliments, I am glad you like the panel and from what I can see it really does clean up the helm nicely. the logo is laser etched instea of silkscreened like the originals, which is why it won;t fade like the original. I would still sju throw a bech towl over it when not in use, it will no doubt triple the life of this new panel.

On March 26, as I reported here, I sent Scott Cambra my order for the two dash panels. I was traveling at the time and asked that he hold delivery until my return. He did and a few minutes ago I opened the package that arrived today.
First, they were will packaged including a protective film on the panels. They are great looking. The preceding pics on this thread tell the story. I'll report my install experience in May. That'll be a trip-I'm all thumbs.

thanks guys, Bliss, I am happy your reiced them and are happy, you should have no problem with them, here is a picute of a customer who wanted a pulg and play panel with all the correct switches and thanks to eric ont his site I was able to do it right. I installed the backlighting and all. this will not be available for the cot plus 10 per switch, some switches are more, some are less so I averaged out the cost.

To All,

Scott's working on panels for my boat. I hope to have them by the end of the week. I'm looking forward to seeing them installed on the boat.

Larry

Larry, I won't be able to install mine for several weeks. I hope you will share with us details of your install. Jim

Larry, I have your gauge panel and half of your switch panel cut, I am just waiting on more adhesive, you guys are running me out of this stuff fast  I should have it tomorrw then it will be cut and shipped imediatly after.

excuse my spelling guys I type too fast and have limited time,

As follow-up, Scott did the panels for my '95 330 and I finished intalling them this weekend. Scott does good work. It is a tedious project with all the details and wiring, but the panels look great.

I learned a few tricks. #1 make a wiring diagram of every guage and switch. I tried taking pics, but that didn't work. It does not take much time to do. It doesn't have to be pretty, just so you know where the purple #7 wire goes. I also uses wire ties and bundled the wires for each guage/switch. This made re-assembly much easier. And don't loose any parts. When I reassembled things, the port engine wouldn't start <tripped the breaker>. The problem was a lost lock washer had wedged itself between two studs on the port tach causing the short. And it was hiding up a bunch if wire. It took a little bit if time to resolve that one.

I've heard the the switch covers on these switches can be changed out <I have 2 that look bad>, but I could not figure out how to get them off, or where to get new ones. Anyone know?

I tried, but they didn't come out very good. The boat faces south at the dock and shooting a pic of the dash into that bright sunlight was a problem. Sorry

Removeing the switch covers (actuators) is very easy once you get the hang of it. You get a slotted screwdriver (flathead) and lay it's blade flat on the base of the switch, you slip it under the spot where the actuator and body meet together and pivot , gently twist the screwdriver away from the switch, this will disengage the little snap, do the same on the oppositte side and the actuator will pop up. You can also get a tool from blue seas that pops both sides together, and work very fast.

Got the switch panel in my 330 yesterday. I'm no good at this stuff but with The Admiral's help it was a success. That's the good news. I tackled the gauges this AM. They are all out and I'll go back mid-week to install the new panel. I am afraid I seriously screwed up on some of my wire marking and there may be big trouble ahead
Any thoughts or help would be appreciated. Maybe SR has an understandable schematic available.

Well, I did screw it up, and badly. My notations were somehow off. One of the first things I noticed was that the engines will not start if the wiring is not right. I believe in their wisdom SR wired the oil pressure gauges so that if there is a lose of pressure it cuts out the ignition .
I called SR and asked about getting a complete schematic and they said they don't send them out. So I am stuck trying to work with the tiny one shown in the Supplement To The Manual. I wanted to spend hours at the helm but not this way!
I hope to find a 330DA owner in our marina in Racine who will give a look behind his gauges panel so I can, maybe spot my error(s).
I'm going to document this adventure here at ClubSeaRay by starting a new thread. Oh well ,even though the boat is inoperative the new panels sure are beautiful! JS

Where can I buy the switch covers?

From me, I sell them for about 3 bucks each, and I have the excell spreadsheet with all of the switches so I can put a kit together for you.

Bliss, I will talk to BobV, he has already done it and can probably help you out with the wiring, I will do my best to hook you two up

Sorrento, there are plenty of these now installed and I have not had one complaint so whenever your ready send me am email scott.cam@verizon.net I can help you with anything.

Scott you have my panels now, and we discussed them today. :) Can't wait to get them installed. Don't forget to send my old ones back too since my wiring diagram is on the back!

Scott, thanks for the encouraging words. The panels are great. I just made a mess of the wiring somehow. I believe I made some errors in my notations. I am fortunate that one of my friends on the dock is a very savy guy re wiring. I showed him the wiring scan on the Sea Ray web site and he gave me several pointers on what to do. I'll be back up there again tomrrow to give it another try. Keep your fingers crossed.
