1997 18.5 bow rider

HI... new to fourm with a question. I purchased this boat from a pilot here at work. Boat is like new, but i would like to add some rod holders on both rails at rear of boat. If i drill holes in that area is that space open? I dont want to hit any lines ect... Thanks

Maybe a picture of exactly where you are planning to put the rod holders? I have the 1999 model of that boat and really there is full access to everything from the engine room - ie there are no hidden compartments under the swim deck etc. So you should be able to inspect the area inside the boat from where are are going to drill the holes to make sure there is nothing in the way. There are cables for dash wiring and throttles that run along the STB gunnel to be aware of and stereo wiring along the port side. Also inspect the holes after you drill to make sure you don't have any corning to seal up. The couple of places I have drilled holes in mine (for a transducer and transom tilt switch) were solid glass - most of these boats are.
