I just sold this boat June 1st. I thought the boat was a decent boat. I sold it for $4000. I want to do the right thing. The guy who has had it all summer now says he wants his money back. That the engine stalls after a half hour out on the water. Says the engine overheats. Says always was like that. I'm just a dumb blond who knows nothing about the boat. Got it in a divorce settlement. Any suggestions?

Did the buyer not have it surveyed? It is completely his burden to have it surveyed and if he waived a survey he has learned an expensive lesson. There is no way you should refund his money and take the boat back. My brother had a very similar situation last year with his Boston Whaler Rage Jetboat. A very similar boat to yours. We gave the lady a test ride (sea trial) and she accepted and paid for the boat. A few days later her husband was flushing the boat out and filled the engine with water. Of course she told us he was a boat mechanic and had tons of experience. This knucklehead flushed out the engine without it running (jet boats flush out differently than sterndrive and outboard boats). So of course the engine is ruined and she blamed us for selling her a bad boat. Your buyer had every chance I'm sure to test out the boat, it is unfortunate that he didn't, but you should not suffer for his mistake.

your boat

Tell the guy to get over it, its a boat! He only spent $4000. Isnt that the going rate for an oil change on a boat? They make mechanics for those kinds of problems!

Jet boat wows

To much time has passed. Did you sell it or lease it to him?
