Hello to all on this forum. I've been lurking in the shadows reading posts and threads for about a week, lots of great info. I've been boating for about 23 years, but never a cruiser. I have looked at and made an offer on a 1996 370 Sundancer. There will be a big learning curve if this goes through. Boat is filthy on the outside, but clean on the inside. Engine compartment is clean enough to eat off, and that's what made me make an offer.

The survey will tell it all as to what you need to attend to as far as repairs, or if it's more than you want to fix. It's that simple. I just purchased a 1990 Sundancer and the main reason I made the purchase was because of the documented repowered engines. All the other little small stuff I was willing to fix myself.

Be sure to read all of the 370 Sundancer thread on this site. It is probably only the second most popular thread here and contains a metric ton of info.

Welcome aboard -

I strongly support Gene's direction of reading the 370 Sundancer thread. I still refer to it on a regular basis for pieces of information depending on the project of the day.

Our previous boat was a 98' 370DA....loved it. The 370DA thread is a wealth of information that was incredibly helpful in all areas.

I finally found the 370 Sundancer thread, lots of great info. The search feature of this site leaves a little to be desired. It's almost easier to google it, and let the results bring you back in to CSR

I too am waiting on a survey and sea trial on a 370DA, 1992. I am planning to replace all the electronics this year and do a repower whenever one of engines goes.... they both have 610 well documented hrs and it’s a fresh water boat. I am going to do a compression test on both engines to help determine their life expectancy.

I have to say that with only a little over 600hrs, a repower right now might be a little premature. I would be looking to get at least 3k out of them.

I will get what I can from them for sure, however A new pair of 496EFIs with 2k compatibility to mesh up with the new electronics will be a challenge to hold off on.

I have a mechanical check on the drivetrain and genset scheduled for this Thursday with a sea trial. If that goes to my satisfaction, then a full survey on Monday. Holding my breath.

My sea trial went great as well. Survey was much better than expected on a 23yr old boat. Moisture readings on haul out were well within limits, and I am one happy guy. I'll say again that I have a lot to learn! I apologize in advance for the dumb questions to follow
