1996 270da aft bench seat storge

Re-looked at the 1995 Sea Ray materials adn I found the option. You are correct. Looks like the sunpad option does not stow away, unless you leave it at the dock.

I wanted to thank everyone for their replies. I have the sunpad option, and there is no way I could stow the bench against the back wall. Possibly just the cushion. I have attached pictures of a '95 270da I saw for sale, that prompted my post. cockpitseatstorage.jpg

I have another pic but it exceeds the upload quota.....:smt089

The easiest way to do photos here is to open a free Photobucket account, upload the pics there. open the pic to the size you want to post, copy pic, and past into your post. That way the photo is not actually taking space on this site but rather a copy from Photobucket. You are limited on the amount of photos you can have on here but not the number you can post from Photobucket. MM

So either a one piece bench that does not seem to fit in the cavity or a split design which folds and goes into the space. I have the folding style so it goes into the cavity with no issues. One question - how do you guys access the engines if the bench doesn't stow?

Hi Travis, I usually lay it seat to seat on the lounge for day projects, put in the cabin for big projects. Do you have any photos? Do you have sunpad? My bench has a molded base the front of which has a grove for the table to rest in, a back lip of which hooks on a rail on the back wall secured by 2 bimini pins, fold down front legs, and a cushion that snaps to the base. It probably weighs 40 lbs. MM

My usual procedure is to lift the seat and set it upside down on top of the lounger. One small benefit is that it makes for a nice place to set tools, etc. (I know - that's a stretch). I don't usually insert the 2 pins into the back so for me it's just a matter of lifting the seat.

I can lift the port hatch without moving the seat.

Do you guys think this discussion should be added to our 270 thread since it only pertains to this model and would it be easier for new members to find? If you think so I will ask Chuck to add it. MM

Thanks for the explanation. Since my bench folds and is supported by the folding legs it has to be folded into the cavity in order to access the engines. Here's a couple of pics of mine - different locations but you can see the bench out and then stowed.

Travis, Does the cushion come off? I'm still puzzled, does yours come off the wall at all? MM

The 270SE I had folded just like in the pictures Travis posted. There is a SS hinge that runs the full length of the seat... so it does not come off the wall.

Thanks, The size of the seat must be much smaller to fit in the space for storage, the one I have is very comfortable. In fact it is where I sit most after the helm. MM

This string should be added to the 270 DA mid 1990's string.

We can ask...

Trying to reserect this thread, my seat is like the one pictured above, I have the same seat, one smaller cushion, and one long piano hinge, not sure how it all fits together?
Hoping someone can set me straight, thanks

Also wondering if it’s just easier to put a big cooler there for seating?

So here is my seat, it is two pieces and folds into to wall as pictured above, and here is a pic of mine, how are they secured together? Is the wood trim screwed into the seat bottom? Thanks
