Twin 4.3 mercuriser I/O
Hello everyone,
I'm new to owning a Sea Ray and new to the forum as well. I have a 1995 Sea Ray Sundancer 290 with twin engines. I'm getting my boat ready to put in the water for the summer and was doing standard operation checks. I have two bilge pumps in the engine compartment. I tried running the bilge from helm with no luck. I then put in the plug and put some water in the engine compartment and the bilge pumps didn't come on either. Is this a fuse issue? where are all the fuses for the bilges located? any information is greatly appreciated.

Before you start hunting for fuses you'll want to make sure you're not getting power at the pumps/switches. Bilge pump float switches are notorious for going bad and/or being too gummed up to operate properly. I had two sump bilges "go bad" at the same time and it turned out to be crappy wiring from the prior owner, splices sitting in water AND a gummed up float. Lots of ways to make these things not work :)

That said, I'd imagine you have a fuse box both in your engine room and at your helm on a 290? Your bilge fuses should be in/near the engine room.

Welcome!

The breakers for the pumps are in the same compartment as your battery switches on the port side. I got wiring diagrams if you need them cause I got same boat and the floats go bad on the pumps, been there done it.

Found the problem! Both bilge pumps were gummed up and the bottom of the engine compartment was a mess. After hours of pretty much standing on my head the issue is resolved! Thanks guys
