1990 270 Sundancer fuel sending unit access?

Hello - New user to the forum! My fuel gauge isn't very accurate. I've tested the gauge, grounding out both sides, and it flips from E to F when ground applied, so I assume the gauge tests okay. Looking in the bilge, I see what might be the fuel sending unit on top of the tank. I hope its not, because its between the fuel tank and the deck, with about 3-4 inches of clearance. No visible access point beyond that. Looks like replacing it is a real pain.
