Let the fun begin!!! I just purchased a 1990 220DA a few weekends ago. I haven't taken it out yet. It has a 5.7 Mercruiser and the stern drive was replaced with a Bravo 1.
So far I trailered it to the boat ramp to see if my 1997 Chevy Silverado 1500 4.8 could pull it out of the water. The first pull was fine as long as the ramp was dry. The second time I had tire spin issues as the ramp was now wet. A little patience and she pulled out.
So this is the first weekend I have been able to really work on her. My first project is to replace the rear fold down seat as the wood is rotten and the vinyl is dry and cracked. The local guy is charging me $250 to rebuild the two rear upholstered pieces (flat sit on seat & small flip up back part) with PVC board. To keep the price down, I'm going with just white vinyl and red piping to match the boat color scheme. No red inserts. After thinking about this more, I will see what the additional cost will be for a red stripe insert in the white so it doesn't look so plain.
I need to redo the frame where the rear seat mounts to as it was rotten as well. I also have to redo the side panels where the rear speakers are mounted but I will build and upholster these myself. This is the only rot I have found in the boat.
I don't have legs for the rear seat. Can anyone give suggestions on building my own folding legs that will work with the fold up rear seat. Here are before pics of my project.
