Well, we find that we are just not using her as much as we should--busy lives, indeed--and so it is time to sell our beloved Sound Waves.

33' overall

I am the second owner.

The Good:
- Starboard engine has less than 20 hours on it (2019)
- Port engine is brand new--being installed, this week (2020)
- Freshwater cooling system installed from the beginning--i.e., no salt water in the engines, ever.
- Brand new upgraded throttle assemblies ($1200 installed! 2019)
- Always professionally maintained (i.e., no amateur mechanics, or dock rats have touched this boat)
- Brand new canvas and Eisenglass (2019)
- Raymarine C-120 electronics
- Air Conditioning blows ice cold
- Heater works perfectly, too
- Galley stove never used--works perfectly.
- New master panel assemblies (2019)
- Refrigerator works perfectly
- Bedding in very good condition (rarely used)
- All cabinetry in excellent condition (rarely used, if ever).
- Interior clean
- Head is spotless--i.e., never used, thank God.
- 40 gallon fresh water tank (no odors, at all)
- All lights, GFIs and electronics work perfectly
- Brand new Lewmar 400 windlass and rollers ($1400, installed 2019!)
- New heavy claw anchor (2019)
- Both props have one short season on them (2019)
- No leaks topside or bottom
- Deck shower
- New cockpit side panel (2019)
- New Alpine stereo unit (2019)
- Many extras--lines, anchors, PFDs, cushions, fenders

The Less Good:
- Boat can use a good waxing and polishing, topside and bottom
- Interior carpeting is okay, but can use a bit of refreshing, I'd say. No tears, that I can recall, just a bit of treadwear
- Bottom should be blasted with walnut shells, and repainted, although it just rec'd a new coat of paint in July 2020.
- Rear bench seat was taken out (never used it, waste of space and weight)
- Teak accents are pretty good, but can use a bit of cleaning and sealing

I bought this vessel from a man in his 90s; he was the original owner, and kept it only in fresh water (North end of the Hudson). But he was a dock guy--rarely took it out on the river. The meters had about 500 hours on them when I bought the boat, in 2018. I replaced the starboard engine in 2018 ($12,000!), and I have only put about 20 hours on it--max. The Port engine is being replaced, this week. I had brand new canvas and Eisenglass installed in August 2019 ($4500!). The boat is shrink-wrapped every year, for the winter, of course. The gas is always clean and stored properly in the tanks. The oil has been changed religiously since it was new. I have all the receipts, too, of course.

So, I'm hoping for $20,000. Will entertain offers, but remember, the new powerplants and canvas cost $20,000 right there. The boat will be splashed this week, I'm told. Will be in a slip in Stamford, CT.

This great boat has been only lightly used in its entire history--average less than 20 hours a year! She's an older boat, yes, but they really don't make 'em like the used to. My loss, your gain.

Some of these photos were taken while I was cleaning the boat, so there are items strewn about--but, I'm sure you get the idea. It's a fabulous family boat, with many years left on it. Why buy a new one for a quarter million dollars? Take this one for 90% less!

will post pictures when it's commissioned. i have none to show, i don't think. anyway, it's your basic 300 sundancer--they all look pretty much the same. This one is white, with blue canvas.

Hi Dave, I really am looking for a 30' Weekender. I love the direct drives. I might consider an I/O or V drive if I can't find direct drives. I can't find any info on your
outdrives which I assume you have.
I am located in Southern, CT

yes, these are I/Os, but the beauty of this system is that she has closed cooling systems. there is no salt water running through these engines. also, one engine is nearly new (about 20 hours) and the other is brand new--i.e., ZERO hours. being installed, this month.

You certainly listed a lot of info but I would like to know what series I/Os you have on the boat and what service you have done on them.
thanks, satins5

they are the alpha 1s, i believe, to match the Mercruiser powerplants. the annual service has ALWAYS been performed by professionals--this is not a handyman special, certainly. we have had zero issues with the drives. remember, the original motors--and therefore, the entire boat--had only about 600 hours on it, before i repowered, this year and last, so there's still a lot of life left on them.

Hi Dave, this is the fellow from Fairfield, CT...I have sent you previous messages. I have not found the preferred direct drive 30' Sea Ray Weekender. I told you I preferred not to have I/O's because of the extra cost that they may incur. I have owned previous boats and both of them had I/O problems. You were very specific about detailing the work that has been performed on your boat. The outdrives on your boat are 30 years
old and I am interested in what work has been performed on these units? I will give you a phone call and see if I could take a look at your boat. I assume it is on the hard in Stamford. Thanks, alan 203-520-3705

hi, alan.

thanks for reaching out. so, i have not had any issues with these, but of course, things can happen. i would offer only that a new outdrive is not an especially expensive part, and if a pair of brand new outdrives are installed every ten years, it's a small part of your annual maintenance, etc. i tend to view them as expendables, to some degree. that being said, these outdrives are in excellent shape, and have been maintained by professionals. they have no issues, and with the closed fresh water cooling system, there is little wear and tear on them. the boat is still in winter storage, but will be commissioned, soon. i have not pulled the trigger on the starboard engine rebuild/replace. it is due to be completed by mid-April. Of course, at this time of year--i.e., pre-season--the boat is due for a good hard cleaning, so probably not all that pretty to look at. She is in Greenwich, right now.

Hi Dave, what is the status of your boat. Has the new engine been installed. Is the boat ready to look at? thanks alan

no, new engine not installed yet. mechanic appears overwhelmed, and i appear to be underwhelmed. i can let it go for $10k, with the motor as is. or we can wait.

Will be in a slip in Stamford, CT, in April. If I don't sell before then, I will be less inclined to negotiate, as I will have incurred commissioning, slip fees, etc., and will be looking towards a great season on the water.
