Boat is new to me this summer and haven't had time to get as familar with the boat as I usually wood. Hoping to put underwater lights on the transom in the spring like I did with my Tiara before...but my Tiara didn't have a cored transome.

What do we know about the transoms on these older 340s?

yes ..the transom has wood. not balsa like the deck but wood

Follow up question on this - do you know if the wood goes all the way to the bottom of the hull? When I look inside my e/r I can see a thicker portion of the transom up above the stringers where wires, trim pump, battery charger, etc are screwed into. I always assumed that was a piece of plywood core, but it doesn't look to go all the way to the bottom of the hull. Anybody know?

should go all the way down and stringers attach to it at the bottom

The piece he is describing that does not extend to the bottom of the transom is laid into the transom when the hull is laid up. It is there just to mount various components and the wiring harness to with screws. It is not structural and serves no other purpose.
