Hello!

I am trying to figure out what triggers the helm alarm for the transmissions. As in, what sensor or sensors would trigger it? Randomly (as all things on boats) the helm alarm is sounding for my starboard transmission. I didn't notice slipping and I checked the fluid level. I did discover a minor leak. But, that leak didn't really affect the fluid level.(but could be apart of the issue?)

Does anyone know what sensor is connected to the helm alarm for the transmissions?

Once I figure that out, I can trouble shoot why?... Currently, I have no idea.

Any help would be appreciated...

I believe the alarm is a high temperature warning. There are only two sensors on mine: temp and neutral. The neutral start switch is on the shift selector shaft and only prevents starting the engine in gear. The temperature sensor is on the top of that housing (BW V-drive) and I think mine has a 190 degree F alarm. If yours is going off and you're not over temp, then it is likely a faulty sensor. You can check this by simply unplugging the sensor. If the alarm goes silent, it's the sensor. However, you should confirm you aren't actually overheating. I just replaced one of mine for a broken connector tab.

If you have a BW v-drive (72c) then this is the one to get: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000XBH9RS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

If you have a standard BW 72c, then you want the lower temperature version. The V-drive runs hotter.
