Twin Mercruiser 357 4V alpha's
time to part ways with an old friend. I am the second owner of this 1989 Pachanga. It was originally a Lake Michigan boat and was purchased by me in 1997 here in Seattle. If you know these boats, you'll know these are sought after and rare. This one was has had significant rework including a complete re-power by Lake Union Sea Ray in July 2012. At that time I had both 350 magnums replaced with two Mercury Marine 357 4V's (see photo). I kept them carbureted for reliability. In addition, I had both Gen 1 Alpha's replaced with counter-rotating Gen II alpha's. 2 new stainless Mirage 23P" x 14 3/8" props. The exhaust has been replaced with a custom stainless steel through-hull manifold system (Hatton Marine); has original mufflers too so its quiet. With the exception of the exhaust, all work was performed by Lake Union Sea Ray (I have all receipts). Between 2008 and 2011 I had the majority of the upholstery replaced. I keep it stored under cover and you can tell when you look at the original Pachanga graphics; Not new but in very good condition. Boat also has operational Pressure water system with 7 gallon holding tank.

Other new items on this boat --

• Fresh water cooling installed with the new engines in 2012.
• Complete replaced steering system 2012
• 2013 Carolina Bottom Paint (ablative on sides/Teflon on Bottom)
• Halon extinguishing system (still charged)
• Car-toy installed touch screen stereo with 10 inch DVD player
• IMCO tie bar
• Depth sounder/fish finder
• Large Bi-Mini Top (color matching)
• Sunbrella Cockpit Cover (color matching)
• Sunbrella Full boat (Maroon) cover
• Several large fenders with color matched wraps and lots of preservers
• Heavy duty 50 foot dock lines

The only needed thing on this boat is replacement of 1 hatch as the hinge has separated and reseal the front hatch.

The boat sits on a 2009 custom painted triple axle HMD (now California trailer works) trailer. It is set up electric over hydraulic brakes. There is less than 5,000 miles on this trailer and you can tell when you inspect it that its low mile. Trailer (and the boat since new engines) have never seen saltwater. This boat is very comfortable in Lake Washington or the Sound. Its been everywhere from Gig Harbor to Roach Harbor and most places between. The boat only has 10 hours on it since the re-power and its time for me to move on as I simply don't use the boat much any more. This is a great opportunity to purchase a turnkey collector boat. I have $50K but nee to sell so price dropped to 18K. I have the clear title for both the trailer and boat and am motivated. PM me for cell number! I also have a 3-ring binder of photo documentation of repower showing bilge, transom core, ad related.

Quite a first post! Good luck with your sale. One of the couples we boat with regularly sold their Pachanga last year in favor of a larger/newer Regal. His boat was flawless and sold quite quickly.

You might be at a tough price point for an '89. Looks like a sweet setup but poor people like me likely can't finance those motors very well!

Still a cool boat.

Yea, thanks for he nice comments. I know that one in Oregon sold late summer last year at 15K. I spoke with the buyer after he bought. That had original power, single 454, I think. It was immaculate too. I cautioned him on the interior engine can be significantly different than exterior based on how well the owner took care of it during the 600 hours claimed, right? New engines there are no worries.

Yes, the financing part is difficult given its outside 20 years. However, there are multiple points to be considered such as the standard NADA, the BUC, and of course, the results of the Marine Survey. I just bought a Rinker 342 and the bank was willing to accept marine Survey market value. A similar new Go Fast in todays market is multiple six figures. That said my price is negotiable though too. As Richard Rollins is fond of saying "Well, I am here and I have cash..." :smt038

Wow she is a beauty!! Goodluck with the sale

Always like those boats. What speeds are you getting?

interesting question. Prior to switching from two right hand drives, I would typically see 55MPH. Of course, that was with perfect water and even more relevant, perfect tune. And, that was about 4,900 RPM. I had thought that changing to both counter-rotating drives AND the new 357 Alpha 4V I might get near 70. But, alas, it max's out at 61MPH; 4,800 RPM. And that is with 400 lbs fuel or there abouts. I would say that is also about as much speed as you want with alpha lower units and non-hydraulic steering. At one point I had thought about B&M/Weiand mouse blowers but, that would require an upgrade to bravo drives and hydraulic steering. I have caught air in this boat with the old power but as I have aged significantly since that time, I will let the new buyer try that with the new set up!

Bump!

Time to Sell. Dropped Price to 18K. If it doesn't sell at this price I will move it with me to new house.

Best wishes on your sale, have always had a soft spot for Pachanga's....

Wow. Just started thinking about getting something like this. I'm going to talk to the Admiral right now!!

Did you sell your 27' Pachanga? Live in Colorado and looking for a 27' or 32' pristine Pachanga with trailer. Let me know either way available or not at jaybanghart@cs.com. Can you tell me how much the boat and trailer weigh? Have a vehicle rated at 8100 pound towing capacity.

Thanks,
Jay Banghart

Wow, never did get any response from the website that my add was responded too. Yes, the Pachanga sold. Unfortunately Jay, it didn't go to someone who appreciated the historical significance of the Pachanga. To respond to you question, with the Triple Axle HMD/California trailer works trailer, the total load was about 8,500#. I ended up getting that F350 you see in the photos because it had a GCWR of 10,000 lbs so was legal to tow down the road. Always check the GCWR not the GWR.
