1989 160 Bowrider need help

Just picked up a 1989 160 bowrider with 3.0 merc. Does anyone know where to get the service manual for the 3.0?

The Gimbal bearing is noisy between shifts.

The engine is slow to crank and slow to start. It can take up to 30sec to start from a cold start. Just bought a new battery and no difference.

The tilt works up and down, but the trim works down but not up.

And finally wheres the best place to buy things like
- Spark Plugs
- Spark Plug Wires
- Oil Filter
- Oil

Also anyone have part numbers for the items above?

You can just do a search for service manuals. I have one by SELOC which is pretty good.

Also you can go to searay.com and download old owners manuals and parts list with part numbers.

Might not be a bad idea to check out your battery cables and think about replacing them (+ & -). Corrosion can wick it's way up inside the sheathing. Also, clean all grounding points.

i got an engine manual from overtons.com
its got a ton of information about working on the engine and how to replace things if needed. i believe its a Seloc manual.
