The stringers and floor are done. The engine and outdrive are in. Gel coat is sanded and buffed. I had 450 hours in the repair and loved almost every minute of it. A couple of times I thought I would never finish her. Thanks for the input everyone. Here are some pics.

wow...a brand new 1988...cool!

Great Job - it looks like a brand new boat with old styling! Did you re-do the vinyl or was it pretty good to begin with? Looks like new in the pictures.:smt038

Thank you all very much. Your comments are very nice. Berth Control I just replaced the wood on the back to back bottoms. All of the vinyl is original. I made the ski storage door out of one inch thick plastic. I may go back and build one out of teak. What do you guys think of the plastic door? It has a slight texture and it is not really slick or hot. When I put the boat in storage I removed it so it would air out. It only has a finger hole for venting. The old owner threw the teak away :huh:and covered the opening with plywood. My wife really wanted new guttering and facia boards on our house. She was not happy with all the time and money that I put in the boat. The best part is she is ok with the boat after our vacation. It worked great and I didn't have to do anything but clean it daily and put gas in it. My family smiling made it all worth it.

And that is what boating is all about.

Excellent job.

Hello, I've been browsing the internet for a 1988 sea ray sorrento because my father gave me the old family boat. I was so happy to find this post. He let it sit outside for 5 years uncovered and the motor with 69 hours on it was completely seized. It is in the shop now getting a new motor and I plan on doing the floor and upholstery once it returns. If anyone is still paying attention to this post, can you provide me with information on where I can purchase the vinyl for recovering the seats?

Most likely you'll end up having to use a local shop. The good news is that you can pick your colors. Are the seat bases and frames rotted out? Since you are looking to replace the floor and carpet anyway you might as well consider a new color scheme that is more up to date. I ordered new seats for my boat last year from http://veada.com/index.html There are many websites that you can purchase pre fabbed seats in any color combo you want- if you have to replace the entire seat. If the bases are ok you may even be able to save the foam and just have them recovered. I ordered a new captains seat and front back passanger seat and then had the rest of the trim and my rear bench seat done locally with the same material so everything matched. You have many options depending on cost etc. The seats from Veada were good quality, shipped quickly and were easy to install.

Thank you very much for the input. almost 3 months of a nightmare thinking a guy from craigslist stole my boat I finally just got it back.

I will look into the site information you provided.
