Has anyone here replaced their fuel gauge on an '88 Cuddy. I was wondering what gauge you replaced it with. I've researched just about every one online and the Teleflex is the most reasonable, but I can't find a rear view of the gauge. I have the blue wire for the light on the old gauge and was wondering if the teleflex has the same. Just wondering what anyone else is using to replace, Thanks

I just had a gage replaced on my 81 AJ but they used the wronge gage so i will end up doing it myself later. You should be able to find the info for the back of the gage online I am sure... i will see if I can find it and post a link.

The posts, or terminals, on the back of gauges are pretty much all standard. The main thing is that your old one might have blade connectors and the new one ring connectors (or vice-versa) meaning that you might have to change from one to the other. No big deal, you just need wire stripers, crimping pliers, and the right connectors. Other than that, just make sure you put the wires in the same place on the new gauge as they were on the old one.
I just replaced all of my gauges for both motors this spring with the exception of my synch because I couldn't match it. I made the wires a few inches longer so I wouldn't have to fight with them when I changed the connectors. It was an afternoon project.
Another piece of information that might help is that I called Teleflex to talk to their tech people looking for a suggestion for the synch gauge. The guy I spoke with couldn't help me but during the conversation he told me that all model lines of Teleflex gauges have the exact same internals, the price difference is for the cosmetics of the face, glass, etc..
Another thing to keep in mind is that gauges rarely go bad. If there is a problem with it the problem could be with the sender in the tank or the connections on the back of the gauge being gummed up.
If the reading is off it is more than likely the sender, if it doesn't read at all it may be the connections.
