I'm looking to add a/c to 300 Sundancer which would make my wife very happy... Can anyone post some pix of their factory install so I can get to work. My boat is out of the water for maintenance, and I'd like to at least mount the thru hull fitting, but not sure where to drill.

Thanks in advance!! :smt001

Not sure if this will help you much. Mine is on the port side mid engine between the engine and waste tank.

In my 1989 300DA, the A/C unit is located in the aft dinette seat. I don't remember the exact location of the outlet but it's port side, probably near the unit. I have two thru-hull pickups one for the head and one for the A/C. I think the A/C pickup is in the mid cabin bilge along with the filter and pump. The other pickup is under the mid cabin cushion immediately to the starboard side of that bilge. I really can't remember which is which.

Here is the unit installation. I don't have boat access at this time so can't offer any more info.

rear of boat is to the left in this shot.

Thanks for the pix... Any idea what size thru hull fitting that might be, could it be a 1/2"?

Thanks for the pix... Is that a 10,000 or 12,000 btu unit?

I couldn't tell you offhand and the manuals are in the stored boat. I do know whatever it is, is no longer made. I had to scour the nation last year to find a replacement blower motor for it. Installing an A/C sounds like a big job. I'm guessing there is no ducting installed in your boat either. Mine has a duct over the dinette, at the foot of the forward berth and in the aft cabin. Seems like I'd have to tear into the bowels of the boat to access those runs. Especially the one into the aft cabin.

I will be in the ER this weekend working on my genset and will take a better photo and look for you.

Thanks for all the info... If you have any pix of the vents it sure would be a big help!!

Does anyone know what size thru hull fitting I should install, and how far away from the a/c unit it can be?

Wish I could help more but the boat is 250 miles away and 20' up in a rack until spring. In order to be much help, I'd need to look for where the ductwork runs. There's others on this site with late 80's Sundancers, perhaps they'll chime in eventually.

What AC unit are you going to use. most manufacturers offer an install kit that has all you need including the scoop, thru hull, strainer, pump, hoses, vent lines and vent grills. Check the manufacturers pump recommendation and go from there. I just installed a Wabasto 9K unit in my 270 this season and it works great. Mounted under the v birth. you cant even hear it run.

Thanks for trying!!

I'm looking at a Dometic 10,000 BTU unit. I called Dometic this morning and was told to install a 3/4" thru hull, so that's what I'll be doing tomorrow.

Any additional pix would be appreciated!!
