1987 410 Aft Cabin - completely gutted it...ugh

I'm not sure - that's the husband's deal...lol
My husband and I purchased this beast a few weeks ago. She was left to die sad and alone and we are trying to breathe new life into her. We have completely gutted her and are starting fresh. My husband is doing all of the mechanical and structural repair while I am handling the aesthetics (carpet, upholstery, striping, new name, etc). We have not been able to locate ANY information on this boat. We are looking for owner's manuals, schematics, interior dimensions, etc....anything and everything. She is not our first boat but she is our first of this size and scale of project. Any and all guidance would be so greatly appreciated.

I have searched online and also the Sea Ray site to no avail...I can't find a damn thing. We are trying to have her water ready by 6/22. Needless to say time is of the essence.

I really appreciate your time and energy!

Go to searay.com owners resources, There is a listing for 1898 440 aft cabin. Should be same boat, or close enough for what you need. Good luck with restoration.

One tip for the Sea Ray site is they are now requiring you fill out a contact form before you can get to the manuals.
If you venture into the 'Owners Resources' on the Sea Ray website, your specific manual might be under an earlier year.
For instance, if your 87 and the 86 were identical the manual will most likely be under 1986. You can also call or email
Sea Ray directly for wiring diagrams and other info.

Post pictures and ask specific questions (after you have browsed around the forums for the answer first of course) and
people will step out to try to help you out.

Best of luck on your project

The interior layout of the 440 was pretty different - the galley was swapped around and the dinette was up. The fwd stateroom had a different bunk layout....

Lauren, I don't have any info to help you but I'd love to follow this project along. Please keep us posted - photos would be great!!

Lauren,

Somewhere during the production run the 410 did become the 440. As stated, there were some changes to the layout. Some had the dinette up and on some it was halfway up.

One thing you could do is go to Yachtworld, or Boat Trader and do a search for Sea Ray, 1985 to 1990, 41'-44'. Put in "Aft Cabin" in the key word or you'll be looking at a lot of Sundancers and Expresses. Do it for all areas and then look at the pictures in the listings. It's time consuming but some of the boats have really been fixed up nice and you might get some ideas. Plus you'll get an idea of when the layouts changed.

I am redoing the interior of a 1987 410. Did you ever figure out how to remove the head board from the master stateroom?

The entire knowledge base (parts lists, spec sheets, etc.) was farmed out to a 3rd party archival company a few years ago then brought back inside when the new Sea Ray Owners Club was begun a couple of years ago. Some effort was made to get everything Sea Ray had available online to SROC members. I don't know if they have what you are looking for but if it is available, you can search it on the SROC site under "Tech Resources", then Sea Ray Resources. You will need to join the owners club, but it is free and as easy giving them your contact info and HIN#. The contact info just lets then change their ownership records to what is current and they do not use the info for marketing anything to you.
