1987 230 weekender question

I have this \/, but it does not have this \/. How hard for a non professional to put the 2 together?

I installed one in my 87 and 89. Bolt it up and attach the wires. If you have an existing charger it's a whole lot easier, but it's not hard to run the wires either way. That's the same unit I have in my 89. It's pretty easy!
 
What he said. Just make sure your wires are properly sized. They say to check the batteries regularly so they don't boil dry but mine seem to remain fine...
 
I had to put a new one in both my 230 weekender and in my current boat, not that hard of a job. You should have the 110volt wire already run, if not run it from behind the pannel. You should already have one though, it will have a breaker in the pannel. The hardest part for me was to find a place to mount the charger. I think on the 230 there was a piece of plywood bolted on somewhere that kept it vertical, that's where I put the new one. The original was a charles 30 amp I think. It should be in the front of the engine bay on the starbord side.
