I was reading a message that was posted back in 2010 regarding replacing the flocking on the sliding side windows. I need to replace the flocking on my sliding widows as well however the windows I have look like there are two separate channels. One where the fixed window sits in which I would call the inner channel and another where the sliding window sits which is the outer channel. From the picture that was posted of the flocking it does not look like two channels. I am attaching the picture posted from that thread. Now I have not even attempted to remove anything yet so I have no idea what I am in for here. Is it safe to say that the channels are actually in the aluminum frame and the flocking goes into the two channels or is this the incorrect flocking? I do not have pictures available of what I have because the boat is currently shrink wrapped.

So I guess I am really looking for advice from anyone who may have taken on this project and also where I can get the flocking. From what I have been able to determine the flocking can still be obtained from Taylormade but I want to make sure I am getting the right flocking.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

I replaced mine in 2013. The hard part was removing the old flocking because it had become hard and brittle. I had to take a screwdriver and scrape it out in pieces. Once removed the new flocking was easy to put in the channel. Mine had the same flocking in both channels. I had to go to a sea ray dealer and order it from Taylor made. The part# was 3507040. It cost $90 total for both sides but they made me pay $55 to ship it to them because it was a small order, so the total was $141.

Hi Brian,
Thank you for the quick response. Am I to understand that there are actually two strips of flocking that go into the frame?

Thank you, I really appreciate your help

You may be referring to the write up I did cal in 2010 on my 300 DA. There are two channels for the small moving panel to slide past the fixed panel. You can order from Taylor directly, just don' tell them it' to a a sea Ray, or you have to go thru a dealer. Tell them it' for an Old Trojan or some other out of production brand, it' not cheap though.

Thank you both for your input. Yes, I was referring to the article you posted back in 2010. So this leads me to another question (Come on now, you knew it could not be this easy LOL). I need to replace the rubber cover that goes around the outside to cover the frame mounting screws. Any idea where I can get that? Is that more generic or a Taylormade only item as well? Lastly, I was thinking about removing the frame to reseal it so I can ensure this becomes water tight. There has been so much water coming in that a lot of the interior wood needs to be replaced and I do not want to undergo that project until I can make sure I am not getting any more water leakage.

Thank you both for your help with this.

I got the screw cover from Taylor also. I just matched the profile of mine to their website pics. Someone posted somewhere about other sources for both flocking and screw cover. It was in one of the flicking threads, don' remember which one though.

Awesome!! Thank you I'll search around and find it!

Well it has taken me a year but it's done. Now with all the rain we are getting I will be able to determine if there is more to do.

As wjamwithis mentioned, it was more difficult to remove the old flock. It was so brittle it felt like plastic rather than rubber. Making drain holes was not very easy either but is done.

I only replaced the bottom piece in the outer channel where the window slides open. The inner channel where the fixed window is is a different gasket. I'm think that if that is leaking I will put a very small bead of silicone on that.

Thank you everyone for the advice.
