I have a 1985 DA 260 with a single 260hp engine. Is this boat good for some Great Lakes use? Not looking at long crossings- just some runs around the Straits area of Lake Huron and Michigan. Anyone with experience? Thanks!

260 DA On Great Lakes

I have a 250 Weekender and use it on the lower Chesapeake Bay. It can easily handle up to 3-4 footers and I have had the unfortunate experience of running into 8 footers rounding Cape Henry one day.

We were able to go through them slowly, but trying to turn around was too dangerous, so we continued into the Atlantic before we could turn around and head back. On the way back in, it was challenging to make sure watch the waves did not swamp the boat or push it into the next wave.

I hope this is helpful to you in making your judgement about the boat and its ability to handle waves, but remember the height & interval of the waves and if they are breaking is what really matters-so be safe.
