Owing 20 years,
Perfect size too trailer all over
Always getting remarks from fellow boaters at boat ramp . Never knew Sea Ray made a walk around, cuddy cabin fishing boat. NICE BOAT
Salesman from local Sea Ray dealer Referred too the fisherman as early Laguna except has IO
I don't see many for sale , or questions on forums
Original 488 was done.
Not rebuilding since manifolds & risers along with other parts needed replacing
Parked , Lifted very high so water will flow out
Covered so not rodents will enter
If my sea ray was like all the older cruiser boats that
owners are trying too get out from under I would have my decision made easily , except I feel the Fisherman is a rare boat
Perfect size fuel efficient fishing boat
Not sure if I wanted too sell ?
Purchase Bracket with outboard?
install a 4.3 ?
Find a good donor motor ?
Recently saw on a boat 4 sale site 2 similar fisherman
both had hard tops with larger motors
1 asking 12,500
other 14,500 ( don't know if they sold )
Few years ago a guy put monster engine, matching seating, which matched top, looked like a new boat with canvas hard top
Asking price was 22 thousand and it sold for 19
Sorry sea ray guys I purchased BRAND X 31 ft cruiser during the lay up of my Ray ,
Wife hates Ray and wanted a fancy luxury cabin boat . Since we are retired I caved . Boat is our water condo, using 3 days of every week ( live in FL) sleeping aboard.
Has twin IO. Marina offers when available slip for boaters that want too sleep aboard . Don't leave in water long term, marina hauls into yard
After owing a big boat 2 years I have a new appreciation for a smaller trailer boat, and sort of getting my Sea Ray ready for total overhaul
Last month found a new old inventory with 11 hrs a 3.7 mercruiser . All excited too remove old 488 . Help of a buddy with hoist we removed old engine and discovered soft areas in transom .
I removed gimbal housing and the wood that was open was not great. Was able too stick an ice pick into wood
Starting transom work or give it out
Front motor mount not metal its a piece of rotted wood . No stringers in engine room too hold front motor mount . Runs left too right , looks like this piece of rotted wood held in place with globs of fiberglass ?
Once I start it will be a Pandora's box of non stop replacement
Wanted too share my story with this Ray and if any other boaters have first hand experience with this model
Good hull and as they all say don't make em like this anymore
