So, after the seemingly endless winter, she went in the water on Saturday! New starter on port engine, newly rebuilt and upholstered seats, new waterline pin striping (Thanks hullstripes.com) and new full canvass on the way this weekend! Cruisin time!

Very nice looking. Congrats on the successful launch. Now get out there and use her.
I'm heading out this weekend with my son who's turning 25! Unfortunately, I just found out today that the Trent Severn Lock system isn't going to be open until next weekend due to the high water!! Oh well, at least we're in a large lake so we can spin around and do some fishing! :)

You bet it's easy to work on! I could live in the damn engine room! :)

You probably will for a while getting the lay of the land.

Enjoy it. It looks good and the guy who did the canvas had similar ideas as the guy who did mine.

I’ll look forward to them.

I meant the style or design of the canvas. Most of these boats that I see just have a simple slant back.

Splashing mine today after dodging lousy weather for months.

Let me know if I can be of help with your new venture.

Hello mates,

My inquiry is regarding the age of these beauties relative to any experiences with hull moisture and wood rot.

You see, I love old things. I happen to believe older machines (and boats) were manufactured during a very different economic era where there was more emphasis on quality and workmanship in order to differentiate from competitors.

I’ve become emotionally affected by a gorgeous 1978 260DA. It is a time capsule. Modestly used only during “season” in high north.

I plan to find a surveyor but wondered what the chances are that she will have moisture in the transom and stringers due only to her age, she sports a single IO and is wet slipped during summer months only, then to storage w all maintenance repeated.

Have you gents had issues w moisture on these vintage vessels?

Thank you.

None. The stringers, and there are miles of them ring like bells.

The hull is similar in that I have not detected any areas of concern, but I have to admit to less rigorous inspection there.

If anything I’ve had to chase down many leaks above the rubrail that had not gotten out of hand...windows, hatches etc.

I had a few leaks when i took ownership back in 1999 but one by one they got fixed and now i run a tight ship you might say. lol:)

New Canvas... "new" old stripe (looks like what's in the original brochure)...

When we bought it, it had the full camper type canvas so that's what we replaced it with. The picture above is us tied up at Bobcaygeon Sunday. "We watched the constellations reveal themselves one star at a time"!
I also just got the marine survey today and the prognosis is pretty good. No more moisture than expected in a lady of this age!
