I am interested to know if anyone has this model or has seen in person this 1978 Sundancer 260. It is in the 1978 Sea Ray brochure on page 7. It looks like a weekender and has the aft cabin under the port side seats. It would probably be mistaken as a weekender if seen out on the water. Very different from what most Sundancers look like and there layout. Link to brochure below. This may have been the first Sundancer 260? I did find one for sale on line but do not recall seeing very many around.

Ahhh yes...thats my boat....hell in front of the Ren Cen to boot. I currently have this boat, what can I help you with?

I was interested in seeing some interior pictures of one. I like the lines of it from the outside. How do you like the layout? Does the aft cabin work well? What is the height inside the cabin area? Does yours have a rear seat over the engine compartment? This must have been the first Sundancer design?

Thanks for the retro moment. I sure do not miss the decor of the 70s, either on boats or on land.

I'm envious of that 100 gal fuel tank though. Anyone notice something important missing from all the specs? No engine. Guess that was an after thought back then? Lots a fuel and nothing to burn it with

I found your photo album and looked through the pictures, nice. The later Sundancers layouts do work very well and have the separate eating area and head room. I really do like the look of the 78 Sundancer from the outside. The aft cabin looks like the one side has more headroom than the aft cabin on the later models. I just never knew this model existed till recently seeing it in the brochure. Thanks for posting.

I dig the retro!

Thanks,

The aft cabin is all one height once youre inside. There is an area where you can sit up right at the entrance that has the window in it as well. Once youre in it tho its big enough for me to roll over or even get on all fours I think..or at least close too it and I'm not a small guy. Its true tho that its not as big or useful as some of the newer ones but my boat rides smoother than the newer models. I do like the seperate eating area though, wish I had it. I love the look of mine in comparison, it looks alot faster than it is and once I took off the side striping...it looks really clean.

Lemme tell ya...that interior was in the boat when I got it...wow..is all I can say. That plaid could induce seizures.

also if you notice in my pictures, I re-arrainged the deck to be more like current boats. It was too broken up before. Oh and no, I dont have the transom seat, never have.

A friend of mine has a 260DA I believe(maybe a 245?). I think it's an '82 or '83 though. I'll have to ask him, but it's actually laid out inside the cabin similar to the newer ones.

I was checkin out your fuel burn numbers in another thread and had to ask if you knew how much different the carbed 350 would be from the EFI on burn and performance

I had a '95 220OV with the 5.7 Carbed and a '99 230OV (same boat just new numbers) and had the 5.7EFI(same identical engine I have now).

On average the carbed burned 8-9.5 and the EFI 6.5-7 GPH.
On my boat now I'm about 8.5 GPH (more weight to push + I'm slower cruising speed)
