1978 SRV220 Project.....HELP

Hello all, I am new to the boat community. I have recently taken on a 1978 Sea Ray as a project boat. It needs work, lots of work. I'm not an expert but I can tell this boat will take some time. One of my many questions is about painting the bottom. It has a light blue bottom now that is very chalky. I would like to change the color. Are there any colors that are easier to take of than others? How exactly do I go about "re"painting the bottom. I am also keeping my ear to the ground for a good, reliable, cheap parts dealer that would carry parts for this year and model. Any help would be very helpful. Thanks
