See my previous post about swapping out a Electric to a Cobra unit.
The original Intermediate unit looked like swiss cheese.
I found a intermediate housing unit that looked brand new on
eBay.
The old one has a rubberboot collar 10.5" dia. and the new one is
15.5".
Parts usedOMC p/ns)
400/800 inter housing : 982878
Transom seal -22 holes: 909527 (SIE 18-2768)
TransomSeal Plate : 911827
TransomSeal clamp : 981679
The original intermediate housing and the 400/800 intermediate
units are interchangeable with few slight alterations.
A 1-1/5" -2" slice has to be removed from the transom on the
right side of the housing to allow the new larger transom seal
to flex properly and allow access to things like the steering gear.
It took me 3 days, due to my learning curve. Aren't old..classic boats like that?
Hopefully I'll be up on Lake Lanier this coming 06/23 weekend.
If Lanier has any water left in it.
