I have a 1975 300 Weekender that I picked up I thought on the cheap about a month ago. Well.........after 3K to get both OMC 260's and velvet drives running smoothly you can say my budget took a severe hit... I am looking to update the cockpit with new gauges, throttle controls, and most importantly seating. Does anyone have the skinny for something reasonable that will make an impact? Although she is old, I purchased the boat from the original owner and she is in fantastic cosmetic shape. The only thing that gives away her age is the cockpit.....and primitive seating.....Any/All suggestions will be much appreciated..

a new dash and gaugjues always make a huge impact. the dated style and materials of the original 70's and 80's layout and bland taste of the designers really shows at the helm. it's like the engineers wouldn't let the designers touch anything near the steering wheel. my little 170 i used a piece of Azek trim board and just played around with layout of gauges and it made a HUGE difference in the style and i didn't really take my time with it. another big impact is usually new vinyl but that gets pricey. the multi color, usually 3 color, vinyl just screams dated to me. nothing looks cleaner than new vinyl on a boat. for me it's the biggest visual difference. simple colors and simple piping not loud bold colors of old. Post some pictures of the areas you really want to change and i'm sure some people will chime right in.
