I will post our progress on the restoration. Photos from August 2010 when we re-discovered the old family boat and pulled from the woods.

Nice find! Keep us posted and remember we love pics, lots of them!

Good luck with your project!

I was look at a 75' 19' for $800, I think the engine is cooked and it looks like lots of work inside as well. What kind of value do these boats have? It was re-powered with a 260 hp. 50 MPH?? not sure if I have the time to make it right. I can put it on my boat club dock for next to nothing and use it as a fun boat for qiuck trips that I don't want to take the 30' on. I love the lines and the gas tank in the bow!! thouhgts?

I will post a dozen more next week. Spending time with the original owners of the boat over the holidays (my parents).

I picked OldSkool up in Wi foe 1700 USD. The motor was rebuilt 3 season and the outdrive 2 season before I bought it. If you check out my profile pictures you'll see the interior redo I did a couple years ago. Cost under 1000 for material and I did the labor. I have a few soft spots in the floor I'm going to do this winter along with new exhaust manifolds (the are originals).

Unless you just really like the lines (as I do) a cooked engine would be a deal beaker for me. You should be able to pick up a runnable boat of that vintage for less than 2K. Now if you just want to build a one off custom power boat then go for it but don't stop with only 260Hp. Go with the biggest power you can, that's why you’re doing it, right?

Old school I was searching 1975 190's and came across a thread from the last owner of the boat. If you get a chance google it on Iboat. the boat came from Laconia NH. he states the engine is good and needs a manifold. Nice little story about the boat. No power steering which I believe you also dont have. Is this a big issue driving without it or only docking I assume. I am thinking of picking it up restoring and down the road passing it to my 13 year old. Take a look at the thread if you get a chance, the kid who owned it was a not prepared for what he got into. I guess he sold it to the guy who currently owns it in Mass. In the pictures you will see the ice half way up the engine but he said it ran nice. I may get it started this vacation week and look into it further. My friends are telling me I'm nuts. They're right! Have a nice Xmas

I would not jump into a major project boat unless there's a 'labor of love' attacted (like "Farm Fresh"). I was looking on Craigslist to see if any 1972 sea rays are out there and found a nice one in Northern Michigan. Owner describes the boat in excellent shape with some work required. So, they're out there but, it just takes patience to find a good one. Here's the Craigslist site.

I have been keeping an eye out for a classic Sea Ray over the past couple years. Most of them seem to be in the Michigan area, no doubt because that is where Sea Ray's roots are. MI is too far for me to go for a few hundred dollar boat so I keep waiting for something closer.

The boat in the ad for $800 does not sound too bad but the guy is smoking something good to think it will more than double in value if he compounds and waxes it.

Hi elbeaver,

The boat is in really very good Condition. Its look like a new boat in picture. You just need to re-paint it and it will shine like a new boat. I will be waiting for the pictures of after restoration.

My 85 didn't need paint to shine like a new boat. SR gelcoat is very nice from back in the day. It is a far north boat, very little UV. MM

The boat is very restorable. Having the 260 is a plus. The manifolds will most likely run around 300usd a side plus labor to install. Does it come with the trailer? How much are they asking for it?

BTW. Just a friendly note. Xmas isn't used much on this site. It's usually spelled out as Christmas. No worries and Merry Christmas back to you.
