I have a 1969 17'6" in/out with a Chevy straight 6 and Mercruiser drive. Has not been started for over 15 years, but has been garage kept, seats, trim and hull are in excellent shape. And the lower end was rebuilt/overhauled just before retiring. Fuel lines are cracked and will definitely leak.
Do I spend the money to make this boat run again to sell?
Or do I sell it as is?
Any ideas?

Thanks in advance, Bob

agreed
I would get it running or at least make it crank and start briefly
a non running boat no matter how nice is a 200.00 boat and trailer.

As long as the hull is sound I would get it running. IMO the worst part of the project would be removing the old fuel, assuming there was fuel left in the tank.

get it running , make it shine . post pics . sell it to Jim

Huh???

I'll explain. A long time ago I was interested in buying a building lot. The seller was asking $19,000. I spent $500 to have a perk test done on the property because I would need a septic system installed. It passed with fantastic numbers. As it turns out the seller was sure it would fail because the area was know for its drainage problems. The price went up to $29,000. I protested, he laughed, I bought a different lot somewhere else. I was very young and trusting back then, not so much now.
The boat owner may be under the impression the motor is shot and once/if you get it running he can ask whatever he wants for it unless you have an agreement in writing.

He owns the boat and is selling.
