Hello, I am a new boat owner and just purchased a 2001 190 SD with a 4.3 from a boating club here in TX. while there are a few more hours than I'd like (900) on the boat and a little more wear too, I feel that since this is a good quality product, we should get many years of enjoyment since it will now be used by only one owner. We will trailer it instead of slip. I have service records going back over 5 years. I will be glad to hear from similarly situated owners about their recommendations and problems or whatever. One specific I do want to address though is that I have a chip the size of my pinky nail in the lower starboard /aft corner of the hull. The depth is less than half an inch and there is very slight de-lamination. Can I fix myself(functional is primary concern, not cosmetics) or do I have to pay someone else? I want to learn to do as much as I safely can so maybe this is a good way to start? :smt038

Old thread, but I'll resurrect, maybe we can get a discussion going. I have a 2002 190 SD, love it! Currently shopping a replacement tonneau, plus a replacement bow cover. I might even throw in some side and aft curtains, and a bimini top visor, although it's so hot down here I'm debating the last 3. Would be nice to have some weather protection other than the bimini, though...

I have a new engine put in around 2013, due to operator error (didn't winterize in time, my fault). Reman 5.0L 260hp MPI. I love it, so strong.

Currently I'm looking at upgrading it for some Salt duty down around NW FL and maybe even going over to Bimini from SW FL (in a group). So, adding a VHF, dual battery, and other bay/offshore items.

I also need to upgrade the stereo as it's pretty dried up and older tech anyway. Probably a bluetooth unit w/ maybe lighted speakers, still debating this one.

It's been in salt once when I trailered her to SW FL, but mainly she lives on a trailer near freshwater lakes in GA and AL. But I hope to take her to the beach and coastal FL more often now that I'm 3h away.

I keep looking at bigger boats and more offshore-capabile, but man do I love this 190SD and it's paid for... :)

The Sundecks are awesome, we love our 220. We put a fusion rx70 in ours and got 3 of the Bluetooth ant remotes. Probably the single best upgrade for the boat.

Bimini seems like that would be a little dangerous. Our Sundeck don’t self bail like a center console, you get two big waves in a row and you could get swamped. If you do decide to do it I would add a second bilge pump and maybe a backup emergency one.
